It’s come to my attention that Brandi Martindale has been telling members of the local government that she’s being “harassed.” Let’s be clear: I have not said a single thing that Brandi Martindale hasn’t publicly said herself.

This isn’t harassment. This is democracy.

When someone enters the political arena, they sign up for debate, scrutiny, and yes—opposition. It’s part of the process. The public has every right to hold candidates accountable for their words and actions, especially when those words come straight from their own lips.

Brandi didn’t just enter the political ring—she bought herself a front-row ticket. Accountability isn’t personal. It’s the price of admission.

Apparently, Republican candidate for Coos County Commissioner Brandi Martindale doesn’t get it: when you jump into politics, you’re signing up for opposition. That’s not “harassment” — that’s called democracy.

People calling you out for the wild things you say and do? That’s not bullying. That’s accountability.

🚨 So, this just happened…

A well-known Oregon graffiti artist reached out to me about doing a “Good Riddance Charlie Kirk” mural on the retaining wall along US-101 southbound as you’re coming into downtown Coos Bay.

Now, don’t get me wrong — my issue wasn’t with the message itself. 👀 It was the price tag (upwards of $3000) the City of Coos Bay would get stuck with for the inevitable cleanup.

So, I told him to hold off. Not because I disagree, but because I don’t want our local tax dollars paying for paint remover when they should be fixing potholes. 💸

Sometimes being the responsible one is the least exciting job in the room.

🚧 Bay Area Fun Festival 2025 – Temporary Road Closures 🚧

Heads up, Coos Bay! The Bay Area Fun Festival is happening September 20th & 21st, bringing parades, runs, cruises, and markets to downtown! 🎉

To keep things safe and fun, road & parking lot closures begin at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 19th and last through 8:00 PM Sunday, September 21st.

Important:
🚫 Cars must be removed from affected streets and lots by 5:00 PM on Sept. 19th or they will be towed.
🅿️ Multiple downtown streets and parking areas will be closed — see the full list in the photo.

BYE-BYE TO THE EL CONQUISTADOR
The end of an era: The El Conquistador is finally on the move. Word is, she’s headed up to Reedsport to be scrapped. Once a familiar sight (deralict vessel) along our waterfront, soon she’ll only live on in memory and photos.
