🍫 U.S. imports of Chocolate, food containing cocoa increased 31.80% through July to $3.3 billion, making July a record for chocolate imports.

Through July of this year the leading sources were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 Mexico, No. 3 Belgium, No. 4 Germany and No. 5 Italy.

The leading ports were No. 1 Port of Newark, No. 2 Alburg Border Crossing, VT, No. 3 Port Laredo, No. 4 Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, MI and No. 5 Champlain Border Crossing, NY.

🍷 Oh Canada, our U.S. red wine is blue without you. Exports of U.S. wine are down 29% YTD according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau export-import trade data we analyze.

Canada was the primary market for U.S. wines, exports of this spirit to our neighbor to the north are down 65% by value through the first six months of the year. Canada has fallen from our No. 1 consumer of wine to No. 15.

πŸš— U.S. imports of Passenger vehicles decreased 10.65% through June according to our analysis of the latest U.S. Census Bureau export-import trade data.

The category ranked 2 through June among the roughly 1,265 import commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 1 in 2024 with a total value of $216.81 billion, 4.25% increase from the 2023 total.

The top 5 sources of passenger vehicle imports include Mexico (down 4.69%), Japan (up 0.47%), South Korea (down 17.97%), Canada (down 11.37%) and Germany (down 7.07%).

Now, there are more than 1,100 different products at this level of groupings (4-digit HS tariff classification), so we only looked at those goods that had at least $5 billion in exports YTD, those 34 made up 58% of all exports, and compared them by percentage growth.

All in, these five alone brought in $55.82 billion more this year.
