In November 2019, a gas station in Samara, Russia, came up with an unusual promotion: anyone who arrived wearing a bikini could get free fuel.
The idea was probably meant to bring in more female customers, but things quickly went in a completely unexpected direction. Instead, a number of men turned up wearing bikinis — and some even completed the look with high heels — just to take advantage of the offer.
Photos from the promotion spread rapidly online, with people laughing at how seriously the men embraced the challenge. What was supposed to be a simple marketing stunt quickly turned into a viral moment, with the hashtag gaining attention across social media.
The promotion reportedly lasted only around three hours, but that was more than enough time for it to make headlines and become one of those bizarre marketing stories people kept sharing.
It was a perfect example of how a creative promotion can get plenty of attention — just not always in the way the organizers originally expected.
Would you wear a bikini for free fuel? 😂⛽
