www.bigredstudio.com Billy Oskay’s Big Red Studio is a Russ Berger designed, analog/digital facility featuring award-winning musicians, engineers and producers here to help you create and complete your project. Big Red opened in 2000 with one goal in mind: to provide great sounds in an inspiring environment where artists could enjoy creating music.

Located on 26 acres near Portland Oregon, it is close to city life and to the scenic Columbia River Gorge. Today, Big Red is going strong, producing big, warm, eclectic recordings for a wide variety of artists.

When Adam Carpinelli comes to Big Red, he brings the whole squad. We had the entire Lanterns big band in the studio last month to lay down tracks for their upcoming album "Lanterns Vol. II," a collection of original jazz fusion genre benders. To get the best possible takes we had upwards of ten musicians jamming in the Big Red barn, all capably recorded by Billy Oskay on the Trident TSM console. It's always fun to record a big ensemble, thanks to Adam for coming back once again!

It was a family affair at Big Red last weekend. Dylan May and the band (including his father Tom) came by to arrange, record, and mix a pair of songs. That's Dylan in the second slide recording for Tom's band at Big Red 25 years ago - with the same bass! Always a pleasure to add another chapter to family history at Big Red.

From Puerto Vallarta to Portland, Renee Wilson and Jeff Oster brought the sun to Big Red last week! The duo laid down tracks for their debut album as a group combining Wilson’s classic soul vocals with Oster’s smooth brass. Producer Todd Boston brought them to Big Red Studio to capture the electricity of a collaboration born on the stage, trusting our world-class studio nestled in the Columbia Gorge to provide the perfect environment for a smooth session. Great to have you Renee, Jeff and Todd!

Last week, Big Red Studio welcomed Lanterns for two days of recording their new project spanning jazz and contemporary visual art. The group led by Adam Carpinelli playfully blend electric and acoustic jazz to create pure fun and experimentation, a perfect fit for the wide-ranging recording capabilities of Big Red. We even had some local wildlife come out to catch their set! Keep an eye out for Lantern in the coming months:
