Holiday Cookie & Fudge Contest!

The Corcoran Journal and Corcoran Chamber of Commerce are teaming up once again to host the sweetest holiday tradition—our Cookie & Fudge Contest!

When: Monday, Dec. 8
Entries due: 2:00 p.m.
Prizes: Cash awards for winners in both categories (cookies & fudge)!

How to enter:
- Bring one dozen cookies or pieces of fudge (you can enter more than one recipe).
- Place entries on disposable plates/containers.
- Attach your recipe to each entry.
- Judging will be based on taste, texture, and appearance.

Winners will be notified immediately, and their photo + recipe will be featured in The Corcoran Journal!

Corcoran Christmas Parade & Tree Dedication

Join us on Thursday, December 4 at 6:30 p.m. for the annual Corcoran Christmas Parade! Come on out and enjoy the lighted floats!

Before the parade begins, there will be a special Christmas Tree Dedication in memory of Barrie Boyett. Following the parade, Barrie’s family will honor his legacy by lighting this year’s tree.

Santa Claus will be waiting in the gazebo to greet children, take photos, and spread holiday cheer.

Enjoy delicious food and browse unique crafts from local vendors.

The celebration will go on rain or shine—so bundle up, bring your holiday spirit, and join us for a magical evening!

We can’t wait to see you tomorrow night!

Christmas tree installation is scheduled for Saturday morning November 22.

We will be shutting down streets and getting the stand set early. We expect to begin checking the lights about 8 am or so.

Anyone who would like to assist is welcome to come down.

Congratulations to our Corcoran Public Works Department and A&M Engineering for receiving the APWA Central California Chapter- Project of the Year Award for engineering Structure for Gateway Park. Our Public Works Director Joe Faulkner presented a brief overview of project and received the award along with Orfil Muniz from A&M. Also in attendance was City Manager Greg Gatzka and Javier Andrade with A&M.

Pie Contest Monday!
The Corcoran Journal and Corcoran Chamber of Commerce’s annual Holiday Pie contest will be held Monday, Nov. 10. Winners of the pie contest will be awarded with cash prizes and their photo along with their pie recipe will be featured in The Corcoran Journal.
Pie entries will be judged by a panel of pie experts. The group of judges will evaluate each entry on the following criteria:
--Overall appearance;
--Taste and texture of the crust; and
--Taste and texture of the filling.
The contest is open to anyone, with the exception of employees of the newspaper or the Chamber of Commerce. Individuals can submit more than one entry; however, each pie must be submitted with a separate entry form. There is no charge for entries.
Prizes include $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. The Journal will take photos of the winners and print the winning recipe in the newspaper the week before Thanksgiving.

It’s not too late to sign your child up for the annual Christmas Tree Royalty Contest. It’s a great opportunity for your child to learn to present themselves and make some money while doing so.

You can sign your child up at the Corcoran Chamber of Commerce located at 1040 Whitley Avenue. The rules and forms are in the first comments of this post.

Interview times are set for Monday November 3 at 6:00 pm.
