LONG READ, BUT GOOD. I THINK OTHERS FEEL THE SAME.
WRITTEN BY W Patrick Martin
If I were the President of these United States, my foremost duty would be to ensure the well-being of our citizens. Our nation's interests should always come first, without question. Securing our borders is not just a matter of policy; it's a matter of national security and sovereignty. Allowing migrants to enter through legal channels is not only fair but also essential for maintaining order and integrity.
Dealing with migrants who flout our laws is a matter of upholding the rule of law. There must be consequences for those who choose to bypass legal processes. Deportation for such individuals is not an act of cruelty but a necessary measure to maintain the integrity of our immigration system.
In terms of foreign policy, prioritizing the needs of our own citizens should guide our interactions with other nations. While diplomacy and international cooperation are important, they should not come at the expense of neglecting our own people. It's about striking a balance that serves our national interests while upholding our values as a nation.
Addressing economic inequality through tax reform is essential. Ensuring that everyone, from the lowest to the highest income brackets, pays their fair share is not just a matter of fiscal responsibility but also of social justice. Tax breaks for the middle and lower classes can provide much-needed relief and stimulate economic growth, while ensuring that the wealthy contribute their due can help alleviate disparities.
Implementing term and age limits for members of Congress is a bold step towards combating corruption and entrenched power. It's about ensuring that fresh perspectives and new ideas have the opportunity to flourish, rather than allowing stagnation and self-interest to dictate policy.
Yet, The path of leadership is fraught with peril. History bears witness to the tragic fate of those who dared to challenge the status quo. The specter of assassination just like Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy looms as a chilling reminder of the lengths to which some will go to preserve their grip on power.
But even in the face of such daunting odds, the spirit of leadership endures. It is not the pursuit of power for its own sake that drives us, but the desire to serve and uplift our fellow citizens.
As a Gen X'er with no political aspirations, I embody a sentiment shared by many who yearn for a more just and principled form of governance.
And so, until next time, let us continue to strive for a brighter future, guided by the principles of integrity, compassion, and justice.
