What if a new year is not about changing everything, but about paying attention to what is already good and growing?
If a quieter, more intentional year is something you want too… keep reading.
It is the last day of the year, and I am sitting here in a Pennsylvania hotel room at 4am as snow falls outside the window thinking about the life we are building. Not the one that ends up in a perfect picture. The real one. Breakfast together. My Bible open. Penny Jo stretched across both of us like she belongs in the middle. A life that feels like home.
In the year ahead, I want to stay present. I want to notice what is already here instead of rushing toward what is next. God has brought us this far. I trust Him with the rest.
I want to love my husband in the everyday choices. When we married this year, we braided three cords to show that God would hold us together, He is center. We washed each other’s hands to leave old scars behind and choose to serve each other going forward. I want our home to keep reflecting that. Peaceful. Steady.
I want to show up for our kids in ways that matter. Listening. Encouraging. Praying for them whether they know it or not. Reminding them that they are loved and supported.
I want to feed our family and the people we care about. Simple meals. A table that is used often. Friends who feel welcome without anything needing to be perfect. Just life shared together.
I want to keep growing Sol Table one faithful step at a time. No rush. No pressure. Just doing what God puts in front of me. Even when it’s a bit scary.
And I want to notice the everyday gifts. A bed made. Light catching a vase of flowers on the table. Penny excited to see Jason walk in from work. A lit candle. Feather dusting. A hummingbird in the summer . A wave from a neighbor. A home that feels peaceful. A life I am grateful to live.
This is what I want for the new year.
To be present.
To love what is here.
To trust God with every next step.
If you’re welcoming a quieter year too, I’d love to know…
What is one simple thing you want to pay attention to in 2026?
And if a simpler, steadier year sounds good to you…
yes and amen 🤍
Happy New Year 🤍
