✅️ Keep terminals tight and clean to prevent resistance issues.
✅️ Use matched chargers and avoid charging when ambient temps exceed 120°F.
✅️ Perform equalization periodically. This helps balance cells and recharge fully.
✅️ Don’t let batteries stay in a partially charged condition; bring them to full charge whenever possible.
✅️ For storage, charge fully, disconnect, store cool (above freezing), and boost every couple of months.

Cold temperatures are one of the toughest challenges your battery faces. As the mercury falls:

❄️ Chemical reactions slow, making it harder to generate power
❄️ Internal resistance goes up, reducing efficiency
❄️ Capacity shrinks, especially under load

Seeing your battery case bulge? Here’s what to know:

✅️ Normal bulging can happen naturally over time as materials shift.
Excessive bulging often stems from heat stress (over 120 °F / 49 °C) or long-term ✅️ sulfation due to undercharge.
✅️ Severe bulging may indicate past freezing damage — and it’s unsafe to use that battery.

Bulging is a warning sign, not always failure but ignore it at your own risk.

When picking a deep-cycle battery, understanding the differences between Flooded and AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) types makes all the difference.
