When cold weather hits, charging your battery requires extra care to protect its lifespan. Here are the crucial steps:

Charge Now: Don't leave a discharged battery in freezing temperatures, charge it promptly after use.

Warm Up: Never charge Essential Li® batteries if they are below 32°F (0°C). Move them to a warmer spot first!

Use the Right Charger: Always match your charger to your specific battery type (Flooded, AGM, or Lithium) for a safe, full charge.

Do lithium batteries freeze? Not exactly in the way water does, but cold temperatures can seriously hamper performance. As the temperature drops, the electrolyte thickens, internal resistance rises, and voltage delivery drops.
Best practice: let the battery warm up before charging, and avoid use or charging below freezing.

✅️ Keep terminals tight and clean to prevent resistance issues.
✅️ Use matched chargers and avoid charging when ambient temps exceed 120°F.
✅️ Perform equalization periodically. This helps balance cells and recharge fully.
✅️ Don’t let batteries stay in a partially charged condition; bring them to full charge whenever possible.
