🚨 **Important Public Safety Alert** 🚨

On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at approximately 10:17 AM, Norco deputies responded to a distressing call at the Wells Fargo bank located at 140 Hidden Valley, Norco. A concerned mother was on the phone with an individual who claimed to have kidnapped her daughter and was threatening her life unless the mother emptied her bank account.

The mother, fearing for her daughter’s safety, heard a muffled female voice in the background pleading for help. Believing it was her daughter, she stayed on the phone with the alleged kidnapper and was unable to verify her daughter’s whereabouts. While inside the bank, she discreetly passed a note to the teller, asking for help.

Thanks to quick action by our deputies and the cooperation of Wells Fargo staff, we were able to locate the daughter at a different location in the city of Corona. Corona PD responded immediately and confirmed that the daughter was safe and not in any distress.

After further investigation, it appears that this incident was a hoax or scam, exploiting personal information to create fear and demand money. Corona PD has reported several similar calls over the past few months.

⚠️ **Please stay vigilant and be aware of these types of scams targeting our community.** If you receive a call like this, try to stay calm, verify your loved ones’ safety, and contact law enforcement immediately.

Our deputies are committed to your safety, and we will continue to work diligently to protect our community from these dangerous scams.
