As we get ready to ring in the New Year, it’s important to remember that the celebration can be scary for our pets. 🎆🐾 Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind when celebrating!

-Keep pets safely indoors, secure doors and fences, and set up a quiet space with familiar bedding or toys.

-Playing soft music or TV noise can help mask the sound of fireworks.

-Avoid party food and drinks, and remind guests not to feed your pets.

-If your pet does go missing, act fast. Check your neighborhood immediately, contact local shelters, and post on Petco Love Lost. Petco Love Lost is a free national database that uses photo-matching technology to help reunite lost pets with their families by comparing your pet’s photo to pets found at shelters and in the community.

-Make sure your pet is microchipped and that the information is up to date. A microchip is a tiny, permanent form of ID placed under the skin that links to your contact information. Please remember, it is not a GPS tracker and won’t show your pet’s location, but it can help shelters and vets contact you if your pet is found.

A little preparation now can help keep pets safe as we ring in the new year.
