🚨JUST IN: Multiple law enforcement agencies are assisting with a shooting involving U.S. Border Patrol in Starr County. Border Patrol agents in Starr County were shot at on Wednesday while responding to a report of suspected narcotic trafficking in the area, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Agents were near the city of Fronton when the shooting occurred.

“Responding agents reported shots fired from Mexico,” CBP said in a statement. “Texas Department of Public Safety, Starr County Sheriff’s Office and additional agents responded to the location."

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General and Custom and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility were notified of the incident.

An officer-involved shooting occurred in Starr County, Texas, on Thursday afternoon, December 11, 2025, involving U.S. Border Patrol agents. The incident took place on Midway Road near the riverbank in Rio Grande City.

Incident Type: The Starr County Sheriff's Office reported that Border Patrol agents were involved in a struggle with a narcotic suspect prior to the shooting.

The Ingleside City Council rejected the second reading for the YaREN blue ammonia project late Tuesday night, effectively stopping the project after hours of public comment.

A majority of residents inside the Ingleside High School cafeteria stood in opposition when asked by Councilman Julio Salinas. After public comment, Mayor Pro-Tem Tracy Long moved to approve the permit, but no council member seconded the motion, causing the permit to fail.

The council did, however, approve the second reading for a separate oil tank farm in a 3-2 vote. Mayor Oscar Adame abstained from both votes.

Enbridge officials say they will regroup and review next steps following the denial.
