🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Another Saying From Home

“We’re a’ Jock Tamson’s bairns.”

This familiar Scottish saying means that we are all God’s children. No matter where we come from, what we look like, or how different our lives may seem, we are all equal and have more in common than we sometimes realize.

It’s a simple saying with such an important message—and another one that brings back memories of home.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Another Saying From Home

“Lang may yer lum reek!”

This old Scottish blessing means, “Long may your chimney smoke.” It’s a warm wish for someone to enjoy a long, healthy, and prosperous life—with a welcoming home and plenty of warmth inside. 💜

Sayings like this bring back such lovely memories of Scotland, and I’m enjoying sharing a little piece of home with you.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Sayings From Home 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
I’m beginning something special here at Bonny Bridge Creations-sharing some of the Scottish sayings I grew up hearing and saying.
These familiar words bring back bonny memories of home, and many carry a little bit of wisdom, comfort, or humour that still rings true today.
My first saying is:
“Whit's fur ye'll no go by ye.”
In other words, what is meant for you will not pass you by. Sometimes we simply have to trust that things will happen in their own time.
I’ll be sharing more Scottish sayings regularly, along with their meanings. I hope you’ll enjoy this little glimpse into my Scottish roots. 💜
