What a weekend! Last Saturday, I was so excited to be part of one of my all time favorite festivals in downtown Corpus Christi - Dia de los Mu***os. This event has been close to my heart since my early teens, and it was actually the very first vendor event I ever did back in 2009. The amazing team at KSpace and all the volunteers put their hearts into it, and the day was going beautifully- untill around 7:30, when a sudden cold front came through. The winds hit hard. Tents flipped, tables went flying, and so many vendors lost their displays in seconds. I was lucky that my dad had added extra weights to my tent, but even then, I lost a few pieces and several of my handmade cat masks were damaged by the rain. Watching hours of work get ruined was heartbreaking - but Im greatful for everyone who stopped by before the storm hit and for the community that always shows up. I still have a few Dia de los Mu***os themed pieces that survived and I will be offering them this Friday at Artwalk - the final block party Artwalk untill March 2026! I'll be at the Starr Street Showcase by the Gongora Mural, alongside other local artists and makers. If you've ever thought about picking up a piece from me - this is the time. Your support means the world, especially after this weekend's losses. Come out, say hi, and help keep local art alive in Corpus Christi. Yes, this is me in 2009.
