We lived in Colorado where he did 4H shooting sports from 8-16, the Explorer program from 13-16 with the Loveland police department,
and was a great part of the community until January 2021 when we moved to Corpus Christi Texas. When Dean was shot and killed he was 18, just got done with basic training and AIT for the Army. He graduated high school a year and a half early just so he could enlist. He got home the end of January and started with his Army reserve unit in March. He loved his unit and serving his country. So much he volunteered to go to Poland. He was doing great in life. He was applying for a job at the jail, he had applied with boarder control and had goals to have a job when he came back from Poland.
May 25th I text Dean that he needed to clean up his mess and finish his application. We argued some through text ( normal mom son get you chores done stuff ) that afternoon and he called me once. But it was normal. He didn’t seem odd. He said as soon as they were done selling the mattress he would be home and get it done. I said ok love you see you soon. That was the last time I heard from him. That was about 6:50.
I got a phone call around 9:30 saying I needed to get to the hospital asap Dean had been shot.
I went right away. When I got there no cops were there. The hospital staff said that he shot himself and he wasn’t going to make it. I said were are the cops? They said they just took care of Dean. At this point all I was worried about was Dean. When I got to see Dean I smelled his hands and no gunpowder. He was shot right between the eyes. About midnight the girl that was with him and her mom Chancy (that was the house he was shot in) they both had different stories and Maia the girl he was with kept looking at her mom for answers when we would ask her what happened. Even though the mom wasn’t there. The mom was very very over protective and telling her what to say and talking for her.
I videoed everything Maia said the 3 days Dean lived and she was there. Her story changed every days. She never acted like she cared he was going to die. She brought her friends up there who didn’t even know him but they wanted to go see him. I said no. I didn’t let her go see him after the first day either. Maia and Dean only knew each other for 3 weeks. She had just got home from the navy. She got dishonorably discharged for fraudulently lying to them about her depression. So she got kicked out after 6 weeks. She is not a good person. And her mom had just gotten out of the mental hospital 2 weeks before this because she attempted Su***de. Dean said it was fishy the way it went down. Dean said he thinks Maia step dad John had something to do with it. He didn’t trust him. They had been fighting. They were in the middle of getting a divorce when Dean was shot at there house.
The reason Dean and Maia were at the house was to sell a mattress on facebook marketplace. I’m assuming that’s why Dean felt the need to take the .22 gun. He knew better and didn’t have my permission and figured out the safe combination it was in, but after looking at the 3 that were coming to get the mattress I understand why he felt he would need it. That’s why it don’t make sense why he wasn’t at the door to me the guys. He would have NEVER let her go to the door alone. Unless he was already shot. The video shows her coming out and going back in way before the guys. Why what did she do first? Who was in there holding him back? He wouldn’t let her do this alone. He would have answered the door. Then she says he shot himself while they were in the room right next to them and they didn’t do anything. They finished the sale of the mattress, took the mattress outside, and then came back into the house before she seen he had shot himself. The 2 guys have records. You can’t tell me they heard gunshots and finished buying a used mattress in a strangers house, and stayed in the house, and finished it all. Then we get to how Dean was found. He was found setting on the edge of the bed, elbows on knees hands on head, feet on floor gun between feet. Very very little blood. But the way Maia for him, the neighbor for him and EMS are all different. Then Maia said she called 911 but hung up to call her mom so the neighbor called and was on the phone with 911. So I tried to get the 911 reports and they won’t let me have them. I finally got them but they won’t give me body cam footage. Even after the Attorney General’s office got involved.
What EMS told the hospital when he got there on the medical records are different than what the police wrote in the police reports. Once Maia’s step dad (Firefighter) showed up to the house no investigation happened, not one person was questioned, not one persons hands were swabbed for gunpowder, not one bit of evidence was collected, nothing. The cops said su***de and let everyone go. They collected the .22 gun. And at the hospital 2 9mm casings fell out of Deans clothes. So they went and collected that. But that didn’t even warrant an investigation. Dean lived until May 27th when I had to make the hard decision as to what to do. I donated his body to organ donation. He saved 6 lives.
Not one cop ever came to talk to me, called me, or anything. I had to go to the police station and fight to get an investigation started. They opened it up because they know they messed up and I have the evidence to prove it. He tried to convince me to not pursue it. He told me that if I get the police report that he couldn’t do the investigation, he told me that he didn’t have time to investigate, he told me it wasn’t priority because he had other cases. He told me many times I just shouldn’t worry about it. I have reached out to his boss and he said the same thing. They know they did wrong. So they are scared to investigate it because it will prove that the cop didn’t do the job to begin with. The investigators first said it was because the cops were rookies so that’s why they didn’t do it right.
Now they are saying they can’t bring anyone in because nobody was put down as a suspect. So unless they have a reason they can’t bring her in to talk. So now she has ran to her dad house to Tennessee and won’t talk to them. To me, that shows some guilt.
