: FULL STORY! Man Shot and Killed After Dragging Off-Duty Officer with Vehicle Outside Walmart - A suspected shoplifter was fatally shot Sunday afternoon after an altercation with an off-duty officer outside the Walmart on Greenwood Drive and South Padre Island Drive.

The incident occurred around 4:45 PM when the suspect, accused of shoplifting, fled the store and entered his vehicle in an attempt to escape. An off-duty Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) officer, working security at the Walmart, confronted the suspect near his car.

As the officer attempted to apprehend the man, the suspect reportedly accelerated, dragging the officer with the vehicle. In response, the female officer fired multiple shots into the vehicle. The suspect’s car came to a stop in a field behind the Walmart, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured officer was transported to a local hospital. Her condition remains unknown at this time.

The Walmart parking lot and the surrounding area were closed off as police investigated the incident. Authorities have not yet released the names of the officer or the suspect.
