After 33 years coaching at multiple levels, Craig Charlton has announced his retirement. He spent the last 11 years as the head coach for W.B. Ray High School, leading the Texans to playoffs the last two seasons.

Islanders Track & Field/Cross Country sophomore Elizabeth Khatevi will compete with the nation’s best on Saturday at the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Cross Country Championships in Missouri. She has not lost a race this season.

Shoutout to West Oso junior linebacker Tra'Jhaun Vurns on breaking the single-season total tackle record for the Bears at 164! Last year he recorded 135. The previous record holder for West Oso was John Baldwin who tallied 161 tackles in 2009.

Flour Bluff and Pieper's 2024 UIL 5A-DI second round playoff matchup ended in a 57-56 overtime thriller. Now they are set to meet again on Friday at 7 p.m. at Hornet Stadium.

Keep Anthony Mimms on the radar! Great defensive player for the Hornets. 🏈

Our KRIS 6 Game Night South Texas Player of the Game goes to Flour Bluff senior Anthony Mimms. The defensive lineman totaled 7 tackles, 2 for loss of yards, plus 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 blocked punt. The Hornets won their first round playoff game over McAllen 45-7.

Mimms has been a force all season. He’s tallied 66 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 1 punt block, 1 extra point block, 1 pass breakup and 1 safety. He’s also on 2 leadership teams:
• Flour Bluff Athletics Leadership Team
• Football Leadership Team
• Mentor in our mentoring program - mentors a kinder kid and a 6th grader
