KEDT - South Texas Public Broadcasting NPR and PBS for South Texas South Texas Public Broadcasting System Inc. Then in 1993, KVRT-FM was added to bring public radio to the Victoria area.

was organized in 1972 by a group of community-minded citizens who worked to bring KEDT-TV, Channel 16 to the Coastal Bend as a reflection of the cultural heritage of its citizens. Ten years later, through a desire to offer quality music programming and to fill a listener void, KEDT-FM 90.3 began broadcasting. For the first time, South Texans received television programs such as Sesame Street,NOVA,

and Masterpiece Theatre. In 1982, KEDT-FM began broadcasting as the National Public Radio station for Corpus Christi and the surrounding communities. Offering Morning Edition, All Things Considered, classical music and jazz, KEDT-FM fulfilled a unique niche in radio programming.

The Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education TABPHE~Corpus Christi 2026 Coastal Bend Juneteenth Festival returns for its annual celebration of freedom, unity, and culture — now expanding into a multi-day experience titled, “Waves of Liberation: Our Stories, Our Legacy, Our Future”.

This year’s theme honors the enduring spirit of emancipation and its ripple effect through generations, symbolizing how freedom, like water, flows through time — uncontainable, cleansing, and ever-moving forward.

**Please note: Due to anticipated weather conditions throughout the week and over the Juneteenth holiday weekend, TABPHE Corpus Christi has announced that all events associated with the 2026 Coastal Bend Juneteenth Festival will be moved indoors.

KEDT was recognized alongside our friends at as CCISD honorees for the Texas Association of School Boards Media Honor Role 2026! ❤️

This honor recognizes individuals and media outlets for reporting fair, accurate, and balanced stories on local schools.

KEDT President and General Manager Don Dunlap received the recognition during Monday’s CCISD Board of Trustees meeting, for partnership with the news division, KEDT-TV’s academic quiz show, “Challenge!,” and other initiatives.
