Congratulations to Incarnate Word Academy’s, Abbey Sachanowicz, as our Student Athlete of the Week! Abbey is a senior with a 3.8 grade point average. She is heavily involved in extracurricular activities like student council, T.O. K.C., and an officer of the Anti-Human Trafficking club. In addition to that, she is also a multi-sport athlete in both basketball and golf.
Abbey will play college basketball next fall and will announce her school choice in the spring semester. She intends on majoring in either business or early education. Abbey also has a long term plan of taking over her grandma’s jewelry store one day, Habeeb’s Jewelers.
Abbey is a tremendous leader when it comes to giving back to the community. Her selfless attitude has helped her create her own nonprofit organization, Hustle with Heart. It provides essential basketball equipment to underserved girls around the Coastal Bend.

Congratulations to Caitlyn Garcia, of Carroll High School, as our Student Athlete of the Week. Caitlyn is a senior with a 4.0 grade point average and ranked number twenty one in her class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, student council, T.O.K.C., treasurer of N.T.H.S., senior council and fishing club. Caitlyn is also a multi-sport athlete for the Tigers in basketball, golf, and track.
After graduating from Carroll, Caitlyn will pursue a degree in nursing, in hopes of becoming a certified registered nurse anesthetist. She has not decided on which college she will attend but plans to make that choice soon.
Caitlyn is also a strong advocate in giving back to the community. She has volunteered her time at the Gulf Coast Humane Society, The Coastal Bend Food Bank and Driscoll Children’s Hospital. In her spare time, she plays pickle ball, piano and fosters a puppy.
