Fish Friday: At the Fisherman's Wharf weigh station in Port Aransas, the Hubener family of Fulshear stand with a 235-pound swordfish they caught on a fishing trip out of Port O’Connor on a recent day. They caught the fish using squid about 100 miles offshore. At right are Kandice and Christopher Hubener, boat owners. Kneeling in front is Capt. Lane Kilgore of Galveston. Left of the fish is Cameron Hubener. At far left is Capt. Dee Wallace, state weighmaster, of Fisherman's Wharf. The Hubeners had the fish filleted for eating. They also were taking photos to a taxidermist to have a replica of the swordfish made. (Courtesy photo.)
This photo appeared in the June 4 edition of the South Jetty newspaper. The South Jetty has Port Aransas fishing news, plus lots more, every week. The paper can be found at stores all over town and is online at wwww.portasouthjetty.com. Subscribe today!
