The Gentle Diner is a unique, immersive program designed to help neurodivergent children and their families build confidence in real-world dining environments. Through guided exposure, supportive coaching, and sensory-friendly tools, participants are introduced to various restaurant settings—from fast food to sit-down dining—at a comfortable pace.

Each session provides:

A welcoming space to explore new environments

Supportive meal practice based on sensory and dietary needs

Safe food strategies and communication coaching

Peer connection and community support

Reflection time to build confidence and carry skills forward

Our goal is to reduce mealtime stress, foster social growth, and help families enjoy dining out together with ease and joy.

This 3-year-old, Bulldog/Cattle dog mix is unrecognizable these days! Belinda had a blast visiting the beach with our training team today. Since returning to our shelter last month, Belinda has shown us how mature she has grown over the years with BYC.

At 60 lbs. Belinda is an active but obedient dog. She knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. This smart girl keeps a clean lodge here at the adoption center and loves making new friends with our volunteers! Belinda is looking for an adult-only home with no cats. She has made friends with canine companions in the past but can be selective when it comes to her inner circle of fur friends.

The Prince of Barkness is ready to rock your world! This sweet Poodle mix is checking off of all the right boxes and proving to be an incredible adoption candidate. Ozzy is a year old and weighs 32 lbs. He is getting lots of practice on leash walks and seems to enjoy socializing and making new friends!

Ozzy is currently spending time in foster care with other dogs (large and small). He hasn't had the pleasure of making any feline friends yet, but this sweet boy gives us hope that he will become a fantastic lifelong companion.
