Ervebo is licensed for protection against Zaire ebolavirus, while the current outbreak involves Bundibugyo ebolavirus. The updated guidance focuses on how vaccination could fit into an emergency response where no licensed vaccine specifically targets the circulating strain.

The outbreak has spread across multiple provinces, including and , while health agencies continue working to contain transmission. The WHO says the epidemic is moving faster than any previous Ebola outbreak.

The FDA has approved Zanvastro (zilganersen) as the first FDA-approved treatment for Alexander disease, a rare and progressive neurological disorder affecting both children and adults. The approval was announced on September 3, 2026.

Unlike previous care, which focused mainly on managing symptoms, Zanvastro is designed to target the abnormal GFAP protein buildup linked to the disease.

Alexander disease affects fewer than 1 in 1 million people, and the new treatment marks the first FDA-approved therapy aimed at its underlying cause.

Massachusetts prosecutors indicted Erekle Gugava on a money-laundering conspiracy charge tied to a Pennsylvania durable medical equipment company. Prosecutors allege the company submitted claims to Medicare, Medicare supplemental insurers, and private health plans between February and July 2025, with proceeds allegedly funneled to a Russia-based criminal network. The case is based on an indictment, and Gugava is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

🚨 The FDA has expanded approval of Stelara (ustekinumab) for pediatric patients with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis, giving children another treatment option when existing therapies are not enough.
