Apparently, there's not much of a market in my area for people wanting farm fresh eggs (maybe everyonehas their own chickens??). So, I have an excess amount right now. Of course, I did add 7 new ladies to the flock this year since we lost so many of our old ones. Yesterday, I got 15 eggs. FIFTEEN in one day. Since no one locally is interested in buying any delicious, free-range eggs (from hens fed a hand-mix carefully balanced feed along with spolrouts and fodder), I'm working on preserving them all. Come December, I'll be enjoying these Thai Inspired Pickled eggs and loving every bite. 👩‍🌾

In 2021, I bought a white mulberry from Rare Plant Store after listening to a podcast about fodder trees. It was about 1 foot tall and bare root.

This is it today. Not only has there been massive growth this past year, but I'm getting berries!

This was planted near our chicken run to offer shade and food for the chickens. The base of the tree is a favorite, cool hangout for the ladies.

I'm so pleased with it and think I'll add some more. Oh, and the leaves can be used as feed for livestock in a pinch...or even as a treat. They're high in protein, and the goats tell me they're delicious.
