🚨 ATTENTION NEW YORK DAIRYWOMEN — APPLICATIONS CLOSE TOMORROW, SEPT. 15th!

We’re helping spread the word about a newly launched opportunity from Central New York Feeds, Inc. and Dairy Girl Network!

Tag a woman who would be an awesome fit, or share this post to help us spread the word.

One New York dairywoman will receive a $1,300 scholarship to attend the 2026 Forward TogetHER National Conference, October 27–29 in Lexington, Kentucky.

The scholarship can help cover conference registration, hotel accommodations and travel expenses — giving one New York dairywoman the opportunity to spend three days learning, connecting and growing alongside dairywomen from across the country.

Applications are due September 15, so the turnaround is quick!

🐄 Women of Dairy will also feature the scholarship recipient and help share her story with our community!

Your kids don’t have to grow up on a farm to benefit from agricultural youth programs.

4-H, FFA and programs like dairy ambassadors give young people opportunities to build confidence, practice public speaking, take on responsibility and grow into leadership roles.

As Tess Southern, a 4-H educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County, says: “They are our future CEOs.”

If your kids are curious, encourage them to get involved. Agriculture has room for them, too.

Kitty Dziedzic wasn’t able to make it to The Great New York State Fair to see the Women of Dairy wall in person — but her family made sure she was represented! ❤️

Kitty’s daughter-in-law, Lisa Dziedzic, shared this photo with us. Pictured left to right are Adam, Kitty’s youngest son, and Katriel and Silas, two of her grandchildren. One of the farm’s employee families also stopped by to see the display.

And in some ways, this photo gets right to the heart of why Women of Dairy exists.

Women help shape New York dairy at every level — running farms and businesses, leading research, processing milk, managing teams, caring for animals, mentoring the next generation and influencing what the industry looks like today. Women of Dairy was created to bring more of these stories to light.

Kitty has become a familiar face here on Women of Dairy, and I loved seeing her family standing beside her story and celebrating her from afar.

📸 Thank you to the Dziedzic Farms LLC family for sharing this photo. ❤️

Today is the final day of The Great New York State Fair, but the lessons from Dairy Day go far beyond the fairgrounds.

District 5 FFA President Ruby Gillis shares why FFA is for everyone — not just students from agricultural backgrounds — and why understanding where our food comes from matters.

FFA gives young people hands-on opportunities to learn about agriculture, build confidence and better understand the people and work behind the food we all rely on every day.

🐮 What am I looking at?! 😮

This is a rumen-cannulated cow, often called a “fistulated” cow. Think of the cannula like a small access door to the rumen — the largest of a cow’s four stomach compartments.

It gives researchers a unique way to study digestion, nutrition and the billions of microbes that help cattle turn feed into nutrients.

Fistulated cows have been instrumental in dairy nutrition research, helping scientists better understand how different feeds and diets affect digestion, animal health and nutrient use. That research helps dairy farmers develop better-balanced diets that support healthy cows and the production of high-quality, nutritious milk.

Fistulated cows can even help other cattle by providing healthy rumen fluid when they are sick.

📍 Cornell University, Ithaca — during the “Holey Cow” Expanding Your Horizons science program for girls in grades 7–10. The cow pictured is a beef cow, but the research made possible by cannulated cattle has important applications in dairy nutrition.

While this superstar, Amelia Brewer, is already back on the Cornell University campus for her senior year, she made quite an impact this summer as an intern with Milk For Health.

Amelia was raised on Post Dairy Farms, LLC and is studying Business Management and Animal Science at Cornell. I have no doubt the Milk for Health team already misses having her around!

I had a chance to catch up with Amelia during a school program held at Edelweiss Farms Inc., where students got an incredible hands-on look at dairy farming, agriculture and where their food comes from.

In this quick video, hear how she spent her summer connecting with students and consumers — and helping clear up some of the common misconceptions they have about dairy farming and milk.

We have more to come on Amelia, but for now, we wanted to wish her the very best as she begins her senior year!

Meet some of the women featured on the Women of Dairy display at this year’s The Great New York State Fair. 💙

Created in recognition of the International Year of the Woman Farmer, the display represents just a small cross section of the incredible women shaping dairy across New York State.

You’ll find it inside the NY Animal Agriculture Coalition tent — and we’ll share a closer look at the full display soon.

If you’re headed to the The Great New York State Fair, don’t miss the Women of Dairy Wall in the NY Animal Agriculture Coalition tent. We’ll be sharing more about the women featured on the display soon.

And don’t sleep 💤 on your chance to visit the dairy barns, either! For fairgoers, the dairy barns are a chance to see animal care up close — and to ask questions of the farmers and families who take such pride in raising these beautiful animals.

The cows you’ll see at the Fair reflect the same year-round commitment to feeding, comfort, health and daily care that happens on dairy farms every single day.
