Smiling because Ziva just had another vet appointment today and she’s been cleared to (SLOWLY) start being ridden again!
We’ve still got a ways to go in her EPM recovery and rehab. But, between this and adding more in hand exercises to the ones she’s been doing, we can keep building more muscle, getting stronger, and hopefully return to normal someday. ❤️❤️❤️
Here’s to our lovely 15 minutes a day of riding at the walk together. 🥂

Horses seem to be a trigger for negative assumptions in people.
Sure, it happens with all animals, for some reason when people see a horse they automatically assume it is being mistreated somehow.
I’m not sure where this comes from. It could be from the wildly differing opinions in the horse world itself, the “my way or the highway” school of raising horses. Or it could be the recent uptick in videos of horses on the internet, giving many a false sense of credibility on the subject.
Odds are, it’s just that it’s always been that way.

The sad thing is, all it does is give the horse community a bad wrap. The horse experts of the internet are all too quick to beat people down.
Meanwhile, in the real world, I’ve yet to be at a horse show filled with this negativity, instead I’m surrounded by people, many of them strangers, who cheer for me, offer me friendly advice if I ask, and they root for me to accomplish my goals.
Don’t believe everything you see online. ❤️ And if you’ve been wanting to start, please don’t be afraid of the horse community. We are trying our best to not let a few bad apples ruin the bunch.

I get a lot of confusion as to why my horses sleep in the arena. When the weather is good overnight, I don’t bring the horses into their stalls. Instead I open the arena and they can come and go as they please.
They take turns napping and eating and it’s not uncommon to see all four of them sleeping in what I call the “pony pile.”
Many people get concerned about them sleeping in the sand. The arena has soft sand which the horses love to sleep in. Given the choice, they actually prefer to sleep in the arena over their stalls with shavings. ❤️

Edit:
They don’t eat hay on the sand. They have a full hay hut outside of the arena, as well as an open gate to the pasture. 😁

Guys!! I finally used the wash stall my husband and I worked so hard to build. It was amazing.
I’ve been washing horses in the gravel driveway for years. Now I get to wash them in this beautiful space! ❤️🥰🐴
of course Ziva got to go first, she’s my first Z after all!

Horse barn construction update!! The wash stall is done! The grain room is done, and the tack room is halfway there. Which means we are in the final stages of this time intensive project that has been 5+ years in the making.
