To think this was all a joke.

Hippie Witch Heart is a pretty peculiar name for a business, let alone an apothecary, but our name came from the truest place. Laughter.

My name is Ryan, and together with my boyfriend Austin, we run Hippie Witch Heart (HWH). Thats right, HWH is nothing more than a love child of two herbally inclined, crafty individuals. Getting our name from a joke, HWH started out as bundle of dried lavender picked fresh from a garden. A simple little plant sparked a conversation of what to do with the bundle of dried flowers and leaves, and ultimately making them into a sugar scrub. Austin knew I loved lavender, and surprised me with some for a new scrub I wanted to make. Joking about it the next day at work, my coworkers and I talked about how he brought me dried flowers as a gift. They joked about how most couples gave each other fresh flowers, not dried ones, and the following bursted out of my mouth in defense,

β€œWell he gave me dried lavender, and honestly, it makes my little hippie witch heart so full”

You can image the laughter the rolled on after that. It was so over the top, so ridiculous, and yet perfect. From that moment on HWH was the name associated with anything that we made from things in Austin’s garden. We started with scrubs, which were a hit, and then moved onto soaps. For us it was a way to stay low impact. The zero waste and low impact lifestyles really motivated us. We wanted to use products that were sustainably packaged, and ethically produced. We went from making scrubs from the occasional blossom in the garden packaged in repurposed glass jars, to all that HWH has to offer today. We added oils, and flavored drinks, crocheted and fabric crafts, a whole new crop of plants and HWH was born.
