We LOVE our drive-in!
Quasar Drive-In Theater is getting ready to add a second screen + they've got killer creative pairings nearly every weekend!
Streaming movies, music, etc... is easy, but if you want the LOCAL to last, you have to get out and support the unique, LOCAL, businesses that are in our communities!
Don't just support the local entertainment scene when you win tickets from us - otherwise we won't have them to give!
Hello!
This post isn't in regards to just our theater, but to all drive-ins and many small businesses. We have the privilege to be a part of a large network of drive-in operators across the US. One of our strengths is the ability to come together to share ideas, promote each other, and with a combined effort make sure there are still plenty of people that know about the drive-in experience and that there are hundreds of them still open and operating in 2025.
We have noticed, through our conversations, that virtually all small theaters and drive-ins are doing slow business this year. While there are a few exceptions and some nights that really make you say 'wow', there are many that have been slow, ok or just plain bad. A really nice drive-in theater, with an excellent social media presence and great(albeit hot) weather last night, had just 2 cars show up for their show. Large drive-ins that host the ability to hold over 1,000 cars have had crowds in the hundreds and the smaller more remote drive-ins are struggling hard to stay afloat. The weather, the movies, and many other factors are making this happen.
We know that times are getting tough, everything seems to have gone up in price an stayed there, and you have more options for entertainment as well as more commitments to other aspects of your life than ever before with sports, work, events and the daily grind. It's overwhelming and you may even feel like you can't make it to a drive-in even when you would love to. While we know most can't make it to a drive-in more than a couple of times a year at best, we know the power of large groups offering support to make a difference.
Here is how to help. Please, interact with the posts you see for drive-in theaters or groups that support them. Comment on something you like, tag friends, and share memories from the past. Let the world know drive-ins are still here, running nightly for many/weekends for others, and a fun alternative to the traditionally more expensive and intensive outings. When you can, go attend a show, event and make sure to not only enjoy the moment, but capture it with your phone in photos, videos and posts on the social media outlets you use.
A trip to the drive-in isn't just an experience lost to pop culture and time, it's something alive, and available for so many to enjoy. It's time with family, friends, loved ones and significant others. It's food and fun under the canopy of a starry sky. It's slowing down to enjoy a few hours of stress relief in a world that constantly demands your attention.
So please, do what you can to let others know the drive-ins are still here and open for movies and memories under the stars. Support your local drive-in and help us keep this amazing part of history here for decades longer. You can find most drive-ins at DRIVEINSNEARME.COM and if you don't see one, message the site so they can can be added.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and for your support of our drive-in over the 71 years we've been here. We hope to see you soon at the Harvest Moon!
