Courtland Journal A smalltown newspaper currently running 4-8 pages weekly since 1903. The Courtland Journal was established in 1903 under the title “the Comet” by Homer A.

Focused on news and information relevant to Courtland, Scandia, Formoso and Republic communities and Pike Valley Schools. Hoyt and Mr.Tibbitts. Homer sold the paper to Frances Borin in 1915 and Borin moved to Courtland and changed the name to “The Courtland Journal” circa. 1916. Currently the Journal is owned and operated by Colleen and Robert Mainquist who purchased “The Courtland Journal in 1990

. Colleen and Bob have made it a priority to maintain the history, integrity and voice of Western Republic County and believe maintaining a newspaper is a large part of that. A Note of Trivia...the Mr. Tibbitts who helped to establish the Comet was an uncle to current owner Bob Mainquist.

EASY G TO CELEBRATE 10th ANNIVERSARY!

Easy G Sports Grill is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 6, and the public is invited to the party!

Easy G will hold its annual golf tournament on Sunday, September 6, at the Concordia Golf & Wellness Country Club. The 4-Person Scramble format has cash prizes for the top teams as well as Easy G gift cards for specialized shots.

You can register your team for the golf tournament at Easy G on Main Street.

After the golf tournament, Easy G is throwing a party at the Broadway Plaza. Starting at 3 p.m., there will be games and prizes for the kids. The band Soul Preachers will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a beer garden at 3 until the band is done.

A second band, Tyler Jensen, will perform at Easy G starting at 9pm. Prizes and 10th Anniversary merchandise will be given away throughout the night.
