Ty France grew up in the Covina-Valley area and attended South Hills High School in West Covina, then part of the Covina-Valley Unified School District. ļæ¼ During his time at South Hills he was a standout performer on the baseball field: he lettered all four years, played first and third base, and earned multiple league and CIF honors. ļæ¼ His strong high-school performance laid the foundation for a college career (at San Diego State University) and eventually a path to the major leagues.

Since his debut, Ty France has carved out a solid MLB career as a right-handed hitter and corner infielder/first-baseman. According to his major-league statistics, he’s collected more than 2,950 at-bats, holds a career batting average around .262, and has hit over 80 home runs with 364 RBIs. ļæ¼ He’s demonstrated versatility, playing multiple infield positions, and has supplanted being simply a prospect with being a reliable MLB bat. His journey from local Covina-Valley fields to the big leagues stands out as a testament to his work and consistency.

For the Covina community and South Hills alumni, Ty France represents something more than just baseball success: he represents a local kid who made good, who built his career one step at a time, and now appears on the game’s biggest stage. Whether you’re in the stands at a neighborhood Little League or reading his name in the major-league box score, there’s a connection back to our community. Having a player from our region competing at this level gives every kid in Covina-Valley a tangible example of what’s possible.

Covina City Council has passed an urgency ordinance putting a 45-day pause on all short-term rentals and backyard ā€œhome experienceā€ rentals like pool or event space bookings. The temporary ban gives the city time to create clear rules to protect neighborhoods from noise, parking issues, and safety concerns. This moratorium runs through December 5, 2025, and could be extended while new regulations are studied. City leaders say the goal is to keep neighborhoods peaceful while shaping fair guidelines for the future.
