In The Schools: Superintendent Dr. Scott Rubin
Retiring Cranford Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Rubin talks to Donna Vaupel on his tenure here, and looks at the issues he faced, such as the COVID era, and his accomplishments, such as bringing intense extra help to struggling students early in their academic careers, programs on emotional wellness, physical safety improvements, data analysis, expanding AP programs and tests to more students, passing a referendum to bring about physical and educational improvements and expanding kindergarten to all day. He is known as a 24/7 superintendent who is easily accessible.
Challenges in education right now include staffing, he said.
His next goals are to connect with family and to become involved in charity work.
Cranford High School Principal Mark Cantagallo will become the district's next superintendent on Jan. 1.
