Wakulla's own Kara Frazier is No. 8 in a musical contest in Nashville. Here's a story:

A Big Day is coming up for the daughter of one of our own local Wakulla High School graduates.
Kara Frazier is the daughter of Suzanne Stephens and the granddaughter of a beloved local singer and musician, the late Herman Mc Waters, known as Mac.
Mr. Mac (with the help of Mr. Jesse Quigg and many others) was the driving force that initiated the start of the Sopchoppy Opry, which began in the late 1990s.
While Mr. Mac was the Master of Ceremonies for the Sopchoppy Opry, he invited his granddaughter Kara, who also had her grandfathers’ love of music, for her first public debut at the age of 12.
After performing, “I will always love you,” by Dolly Parton, the audience gave Kara a standing ovation and cheered her on to sing it once more, which she did.
Since that time, Kara has continued her music journey with a love and passion and a driving force that has been unstoppable.
After graduating with a Music Business Degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, Kara went full force into the music industry, making a name for herself in the Nashville, Tennessee area.
On Wednesday, April 15, Kara will be competing in Nashville’s largest “Battle of the Bands” for the title of Lightning 100’s “Music City Mayhem” grand champion, which would earn her a month of radio play and two free days of recording studio time, allowing her to record new music for her fans.
The competition started out with 300 well-known artists competing against each other in hopes of becoming artist of the year.
As of last week, Kara became one of the top eight artists and will be competing this Wednesday, April 15th, for a spot in the top four.
On April 15th, the competition begins at 6:00 AM and ends at midnight. Throughout the day, Lightning 100 highlights each musician’s songs by playing them, and allowing the audience to vote for their favorite artist.
This contest is known in Nashville as Music City Mayhem because that’s exactly what it is. The contest is intense, driven, and often won by only a few votes.
If you would like to support Kara in this venture and get in on the “Mayhem”, we are asking you to vote on April 15th for Kara Frazier.
We will post a link on Wednesday, morning, April 15th. The link will allow you to help move Kara to one of the top four positions.
Again, we are asking you to please join us in this venture - who knows, maybe one day, you can say, “This girl got her start at the Sopchoppy Opry.”
