🤔✋🏽If you ever wonder, full-time RV parents, if the choice you made to sell it all, explore the country, and in our case build out a school bus, had a profound effect on who your kids would grow to become, I present to you our youngest wanderer in 2016 and now in 2026. Shy of turning 3 helping his Dad build Wander Bus and now weeks shy of 13 helping his Dad build a work bench/makers space. This will be a space so that H, like his Dad, can continue to build, create and turn blank canvases into adventure mobiles or Star Wars universes or works of art or as much slime as his heart can handle. All the things he used to do on picnic tables when we traveled full-time.

Our kids are sponges. They are shaped by our choices. Do not let anyone out there tell you that taking your kids on the road was or is bad parenting, or that you are keeping them from friends or a social life or any of the other garbage people hurled at us for over seven years. It’s your family and your journey and you will always know, together, the best path. Off the road three years now, RVing like “normies” and somehow, despite all the keyboard warriors assuring us they would be socially dysfunctional, our kids survived, transitioned and are thriving, just like they did on the road. Funny.

Go live your best life. It was the best decision for seven years and then it was the best decision to put down roots. ❤️

In 2018, Zion National Park’s Watchman Campground was one of our 1st NPS campgrounds, and it absolutely spoiled us for NPS campgrounds going forward. In fact, the entire park spoiled us when it comes to how a National Park, a campground and a gateway town work so harmoniously together.

Almost 8 years later to the day, we returned to our favorite park this time in a in search of the magic again, and happy to report it is still there, only now it is filled with the intense memories of our once small boys everywhere we look. There was not a spot in that entire park where I did not see a moment from our two visits in 2018. Where we did not see happy, smiling, imaginative, creative, thriving 5, 8 and 11 year old Epperson boys falling in love with Zion just like their Mom and Dad.

Sometimes it’s was a lot of intense memories at once that I could feel my heart in my throat, longing to reach out and hold those little boys once again.

Isn’t it amazing the core memories we can leave in a a National Park and how it holds on to those memories so gently for us, patiently waiting for our return.

I love this campground at Zion for all the ways it comforts me and breaks my aging parental heart.

This week we share all this and more on the podcast. If any of this resonates with you, or you’d like to learn more details about visiting Zion, please come join us. Details on how in the comments.
