We are the people of Nvn-nvst-'a~ (Mother Earth), deeply connected to the land, animals and natural systems and rhythms. Our language has evolved from our natural surroundings and the sounds made by animals. Using our Indigenous language in the natural world is essential for the survival of our Tolowa Dee-ni' Wee-ya'.
