STORY TIME!

We were in Kathmandu for a few days prior to our trek, so we decided to go to the Monkey Temple. We were going to take regular cab, but a guy on a bike taxi convinced us to go with him. Let's just say the Monkey Temple was....far....like very far from our hotel. And we are not small people 😂 So, he got us within sight of the Temple and then we had to walk the rest of the way! We are sure he charged us too much as obvious tourists and we gave him a little tip for physically carrying our tushies that far because we felt so bad about how hard he was pedaling and breathing. Then when we got there, we got swindled by an older woman with a sick child into buying some candles. She then walked us through some sort of ceremony and painted our foreheads 🤷‍♂️🤷🏼‍♀️ The Monkey Temple itself was really awesome though! 10/10 would recommend. Just don't make our rookie tourist mistakes 😂

We were mesmerized by the art in Nepal 🤩 We walked through several galleries and even visited an art school and watched the masters at work! So, we of course bought a mandala and it naturally lives in the van. The pic doesn't even do it justice 🥰

No walk/hike today because we are busy and have a run in our workout. Going to have to get some longer walks in later this week!

We landed in Kathmandu, hopped in a crazy taxi jeep and got dropped off several blocks from hour hotel, because we were staying in Thamel, which is an area of the city where no cars are allowed. This was our first selfie in Nepal!

And today, on our walk, we saw an otter! He was glorious. It was amazing. Otters are the best. Video in next post!

4 years ago today, we hopped on a plane to the other side of the world to trek through the most famous mountain region in the world 🗻

Over 17 days we hiked about 116 miles via the 3 passes trek with a quick side quest to everest base camp. As a fun challenge in honor of that amazing trip, we are going to try and walk/hike 116 miles in the month of May 🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏼‍♀️ That's an average of 3.75 miles a day for 31 days! How did we do that in 17 days??? Answer: we walked all day and ate lots of ramen!

We are also going to try and post some pics from that trip alongside some pics from our current paradise here in Washington. So, here is us all packed up and ready to go before leaving for the airport on 5/1/18 and us the other day after an evening run April 2022.

Meili has some prime real-estate! Mountain view in the back, beach view in the front, and right next to the bathrooms (which also have hot showers!) Plus room for our workout toys 😎
