6/2: MORE OF THIS MIX.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 6/2: We are sitting on the western edge of moisture lifting in from the south. This will favor eastern CO and the Front Range but we are close enough that models keep chance afternoon thundershowers in the forecast. These will have more wind than actual rain hitting the ground but keep a layer handy just in case.

Temperatures: Lows warmed a couple degrees at 37 for Gunni and 30 for CB. Highs will stay warm reaching 77 for Gunni and 70 for CB. Lows tonight will look about the same.

Outlook: We are seeing a complicated pattern developing in the west with multiple interacting components but ultimately the variables are unimpressive. The moisture lifting through to the southeast will leave remnants capable of daily afternoon convective build up but cells will be more dry and windy. Dry lightning will be a threat with elevated fire danger thanks to continued dry condition. The end of the week remains a toss up with either more of the same afternoon cloud cover or a drier turn with hot sunny conditions. Stay tuned as the pattern develops.

6/1: HEATING UP IN THE WEST.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 6/1: Hello June. Regional satellite imagery shows much drier air filtering into the 4 Corners with residual moisture focused to the north. Models still call for potential isolated thundershowers for CB but rain hitting the ground is unlikely with just some dry windy cells on tap through the afternoon.

Temperatures: Lows dropped to 28 for CB and 34 for Gunni. Highs will gain another couple degrees to 76 for Gunni and 69 for CB. Lows tonight will look about the same.

Outlook: Drier air will continue to settle in around the 4 Corners keeping us dry through Tuesday but a cut off low over northern Baja will send enough moisture in for daily afternoon cloud cover. A slow build up will mean enough fuel by Wednesday afternoon for isolated thundershowers but models still split the valley with no real organization so these will be hit or miss at best. Ultimately moisture will be unpredictable and not really worth changing plans over with above normal highs and daily afternoon winds likely.

5/31: A WARMER AND DRIER TREND.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 5/31: Drier air has moved in overnight with the pivot to more of a southwestern flow. This will allow daytime highs to jump by 5-10 degrees over yesterday’s chilly highs. Clear skies will hold though the morning but residual moisture will allow for some convective build up of mostly just cloud cover into the afternoon. Rain is unlikely but expect dry windy cells.

Temperatures: Lows dropped with the colder air to 31 for Gunni and 27 for CB. Highs will bounce back to 93 for CB and 72 for Gunni. Lows tonight will gain a little but be cold.

Outlook: With the southwestern flow setting up Monday will be the driest day of the week with limited afternoon build up and warm highs. As the week progresses we see a low pulled to our south tipping the flow further in that direction and sending enough moisture our way for afternoon thundershowers by Wednesday. This timing may change and dry conditions will limit potential but hit or miss afternoon thundershowers will be in play through Thursday afternoon. So far models have us dry after that but this could change with a small shift.

5/30: A COOLER MOSTLY SUNNY MIX.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 5/30: We’ve seen colder air move in as this low pushes out of northern UT into CO. We will see a close enough pass for some scattered clouds through the day with gusting winds and then a chance at isolated thunder cells mostly just to the north on the higher terrain. Highs will be cooler which limits the convective potential so just keep the layers handy but enjoy a beautiful day.

Temperatures: Overnight lows dropped significantly to 29 for CB and 36 for Gunni. Highs will hold to 54 for CB and 63 for Gunni. Lows tonight will look similar but slightly warmer.

Outlook: This low will pass through to the north through Saturday night allowing a milder western flow to establish. Temperatures will pop by 10 degrees Sunday and stay mild under mostly sunny skies to start the week. By midweek we’ll see another passing system but that’s a ways out and a work in progress.
