8/19: RINSE AND REPEAT.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 8/19: Hot dry conditions continue to recycle around the southwest and we are looking at another day a lot like yesterday with a cold clear start turning hot through noon with scattered cloud cover and dry gusting winds into the afternoon. Moisture sits just below the threshold of being capable of thundershowers but expect areas of cloud cover.

Temperatures: Lows were slightly warmer for CB at 36 and 45 for Gunni. Highs will reach 86 for Gunni and 80 for CB. Lows tonight will look the same.

Outlook: This high will continue to lift over the 4 Corners with moisture slowly building as it’s drawn into the flow and wraps around in our direction. Wednesday will be rinse and repeat but we may see a few drops out of the convective build up with the same slight incremental increase everyday through the end of the week. As moisture is able to build so will coverage of afternoon storms so plan accordingly for adventures through Friday. Saturday looks like the peak but cooler temperatures and more clouds could change the attitude to slower moving showers in the afternoon.

8/18: DRY SOUTHWESTERN FLOW.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 8/18: Little has changed with the same dry southwestern flow lifting across the area. We will see plenty of sun and heating to activate any remaining moisture in the atmosphere but this will be a few clouds at best with little to no chance at rain.

Temperatures: Lows cooled to 34 for CB and 39 for Gunni. High will climb back to 78 for CB and 83 for Gunni. Lows tonight will stay cold with the drier air.

Outlook: This high starts lifting back in our direction and timing will dictate the turn back to wetter conditions. Models are showing the possibility of precipitable water levels choking up a little early with isolated afternoon thundershowers as early as Tuesday afternoon but this is unlikely. For the calmest conditions plan on early adventures up high but any real afternoon threats should hold off until Thursday and even these will be hit or miss with more wind than rain until we see a stronger moisture tap headed into the weekend.

8/17: BACK INTO THE HOT AND DRY.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 8/17: The trough pushing through from the northwest has moved the high back to the southeast and set up dry air from the southwest. We will notice a marked difference today with clear skies and temperatures popping back to above normal. Enough residual moisture will remain for some convective build up with dry windy cells this afternoon but rain is unlikely.

Temperatures: Lows dropped to 36 for CB and 45 for Gunni. Highs will rebound back up to 75 for CB and 81 for Gunni. Lows tonight will lose a degree.

Outlook: This shift in the high to the southeast will hold through the beginning of the week with hot dry air from the southwest dominating the pattern. Daytime highs will climb and skies will remain mostly sunny through Wednesday. The high will bounce off northern Mexico and slowly lift back into the 4 Corners through midweek with models showing a resurgence of monsoonal moisture building back in for Thursday afternoon and beyond.

8/16: A COOLER MIX.
TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For 8/16: Nocturnal remnants are offering a few isolated showers lifting through from the southwest this morning but satellite imagery shows tapering water v***r. This will mean a mix of conditions through the day with overall cooler temperatures with partly sunny conditions but also the potential for rain showers early and scattered thundershowers this afternoon. Be aware for adventures up high but it will be a fairly weak mix in any direction.

Temperatures: Lows held to 46 for Gunni and 43 for CB with the clouds. Highs will stay cooler at 73 for CB and 80 for Gunni. Lows tonight will drop with drier air.

Outlook: The mx turns more sun heavy into Sunday with drier air pushing remnant moisture clear. A more southwestern flow will hopefully improve air quality but there are fires all over. Look for the continued chance at afternoon thundershowers but with longer windows of sunshine every day through Wednesday.
