To the Beautiful Mama in My Chair,

I see you. I feel you. I’ve been you

You’re sitting here today tired, stretched thin, a full heart, and a million thoughts running through your mind. That little baby of yours has already changed your world just like the ones before him in the most magical, new, unique and exhausting ways. And now, you’re about to do something incredibly hard…you’re getting ready to go back to work.

I know you’re probably feeling torn. Excited to step back into something familiar yet also still ‘new’ but also aching at the thought of leaving that tiny person you just created. Maybe you’re wondering if you’re doing it right. Maybe you feel like you’re supposed to have it all figured out by now.

But let me remind you, there’s no one way to do this. There’s only your way. And whatever that looks like, it’s valid. Whether you’re pumping in a supply closet, crying on your lunch break, or feeling like an absolute boss getting it all done! You’re doing something powerful in one of the most vulnerable moments of life.

You are still you. You didn’t lose her when you became “Mom” and that’s with each and every birth. When a baby is born; it’s not just the birth of a baby, It’s a rebirth of us. A version of ‘Me’ you have yet to understand and fully comprehend. You grew. Today, as you sit here letting someone else take care of you for a moment, I hope you feel even just a tiny bit of your strength coming back.

So breathe, Mama. Let the guilt go. Let the love lead. Your baby is lucky to have you and so is the world you’re stepping back into.

You know those posts that say “his hands look like this so mine can look like this?” Yeah… this isn’t that. But you’ll get my point…

We put the work in to fuel the work she puts in. Being a working mom+wife+both business owners comes with many questions; basically daily of, “am I doing enough?” In or out of the salon… These moments like this weekend provide me comfort in knowning that I am! They remind me of my why, how my why has evolved, will continue to evolve, & the opportunity and progress life has provided. I’m a working mom, no less a mom/wife, no more than another, I’m just doing what brings me daily purpose outside of the home, a piece of ME that was me before marriage & children, all while ebbing and flowing through life. Truly a s**t show but it’s mine. 🎪

A moment from this weekend was the amount of pride that filled us as our girl landed herself a second place finish at the ISF as an individual with a 9.12 & 2nd place overall for her talented studio team! Everyone did amazing!
