Letter to the Editor criteria
We’re glad you want to be a part of the conversation. The Crestone Eagle encourages a diversity of viewpoints and
thoughtful public dialogue. To maintain respectful discourse, all Letters to the Editor and Commentary must follow our
civility policy:
Submissions must avoid personal attacks, hate speech, profanity, misinformation, or inflammatory language. Criticism should address ideas, actions or arguments — not individuals, identities
or organizations. Aggressive, sarcastic or confrontational language will not be published. We welcome well-reasoned
opinions, solution-oriented perspectives and critiques based on facts. Letters responding to previously published
content must engage the original ideas, include new points, and cite credible sources if disputing facts.
All submissions are subject to editing for grammar, length and clarity while preserving the author’s intent. The editor
reserves the right to include fact-based clarifications or disclaimers as needed.
Submissions that do not meet our standards may be declined.
Letters to the Editor must be 250 words or less. Commentary is limited to 650 words. Include your full name, town,
organization (if applicable), and contact information. Anonymous submissions will not be accepted. Contact details will not be published. Please, use only one space between sentences.
Visit www.crestoneeagle.org/submissions to read our full civility policy. Submit Letters and Commentary to [email protected] by the 20th of
each month to be considered for the next
issue.
