Porter Wayne Wagoner was born in West Plains, Missouri, on this day in 1927.

When people think of country music, Porter's name is often one of the first that comes to mind. He was known as "Mr. Grand Ole Opry" and was instantly recognizable in his flashy suits.

Porter was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002. He lived to see the honor and passed away five years later on October 28, 2007.

Today, we honor Porter on what would have been his 98th birthday! ❤️ 🎵

On this day in 1964, country star Loretta Lynn and her husband, Doo, welcomed their twin daughters, Peggy and Patsy. Loretta named Patsy after her late friend Patsy Cline, who died the previous year.

Loretta didn't know she was expecting twins, so it was quite a surprise when she delivered not one, but two baby girls! Reflecting on the memory in 2022, she said, "...if I had it to do all over again, I’d tell Dr. Hasty that one more sounds about perfect to me. It turned out in this case that two really are better than one."

Peggy and Patsy followed in their mama's musical footsteps and formed a country music duo named The Lynns. They released one album together and earned two CMA Award nominations for Vocal Duo of the Year.

Happy Birthday Martina McBride!

Martina Mariea Schiff, who the world now knows as Martina McBride, was born on this day in 1966. 💜

Martina is the powerhouse vocalist behind beloved country hits such as "A Broken Wing," "Independence Day," and "This One's for the Girls."

Her talent has led her to win the CMA Award for Female Vocalist of the Year four times and she was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1995.

Now, we're celebrating another milestone in Martina's life, as she turns 59 today! 🎉

Jeannie Seely turns 85 today! 🎉

Marilyn Jeanne Seely was born on this day in 1940 in Titusville, Pennsylvania. Her first single, "If I Can't Have You," was released 24 years later.

Jeannie's career took off in subsequent years, as she scored hit singles such as "Don't Touch Me" and "Wish I Didn't Have to Miss You."

Jeanie was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1967. She's performed there over 5,000 times, more than any other artist.

Hopefully, Jeannie has a wonderful birthday today! 💛

Jackie Keith Whitley was born in Ashland, Kentucky, on this day in 1954. His debut single, "Turn Me to Love," was released 30 years later.

Over the next few years, Keith scored a series of hits with songs such as "Don't Close Your Eyes," "When You Say Nothing At All," and "I'm No Stranger to the Rain."

Sadly, Keith passed away on May 9, 1989, at the age of 34. Although he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through the music he left behind, as he continues to influence new generations of country artists and fans.

As a testament to Keith's impact on the genre, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2022.

Today, on what would have been Keith's 71st birthday, we're taking a moment to honor and remember him...and all he did for country music. 💔 🎵
