A sky that gloriously blue (gracias, high altitude) shouldn't feel ominous, but Taos always manages to sneak a little shiver under its beautiful surface. I miss this place.

It took several shots to get the angle right, but here's the Virgin giving her best "what the hell?!?!" to that open pit behind her-- the one that used to be a mountain. The contrasts between the mined and unmined areas around here are startling.

Yesterday (2nd day of summer, mind you) we explored remnants of the gold rush in Teller County, Colorado. We tried to outrun the snow, and failed. I captured these images in Victor, about 9k.ft elevation, as the storm rolled in.
