We've had quite a few shipping queries and elsewhere on Facebook, a professional shipper made these comments which might help people understand what it means when they click the Tracking link that they get sent by Radiant:
"We all know packages can be delayed at Christmas, and we know COVID doesn't help.
But it doesn't explain the tracking information, which make it seem like the shipper (Radiant) hasn't even got the package to the post office.
But they did. Here's whats happening.
The local US post office is a drone, meant only to collect and distribute. The problem is the area (in this case, Nashville) distribution center, which right now is backed up about 5-6 days - even with (so-called) Priority Mail. Those packages are just sitting in a holding area there, waiting for the space for it to be "accepted" and processed, which means the decision is made what truck or place or train it'll go on.
The tracking shows the scan when the package enters the system, but it's not scanned again until the distribution center finally gets to it. The initial scan doesn't admit that it's in the distribution center, but it is. And it's the distribution center that "accepts" the package for the local post office, which is why it seems like the package is either still at Radiant or at the rural post office. The next tracking entry will show the DC "accepting" the package for the Cottonwood/Cross Plains post office - but again, IT'S NOT THERE. It's in Nashville, sitting in a pile, waiting.
So don't worry, it's just backed up, but it is a bit of distance away from Radiant, which is a good thing."
