I watched this man take his time to talk to so many different walks of people in my local park (shout out )

It was inspiring and affirming watching his engagement and presence with so many different kinds of people. Young, old, Black, white, Muslim, Indian, Latino, it was crazy..and endearing and relieving. To see a politician look so engaged and caring and loving.

Cuomo could never!!!😅
And likely would never.😠

This is my Brooklyn Family!

It ain’t all of us, but This Is Us!

Moving to BK was a whole thing. A dream come true if you will. Full of ups and downs, traumas, love, adventure, successes, so many failures, celebrations, disappointments, and everything in between.

We have all come into each others lives at different points, but we all found safety, love and ultimately family together in this land of misfits, miscreants and creative folk from throughout the diaspora… and beyond.

If I’m outside..
I’m likely with them.
A crew that has been together and around each other for over 20 years.. give or take.. - decade or more depending on the person and the season.

I love these folks.
They love me.
And that’s just the way it should be.

I am thankful for them and to them.
Even when they get on my last nerves. They my peoples until I ain’t got no more nerves! 😅

They have saved my life more times than they know.

I’m always good with them and they are always good with me.

Honored to be a part of this BK Fam!

Get you some.. and if you have a chosen family, BK or otherwise, love on em til you cant no mo!

I had the honor of directing/producing a conversation with none other than Doc Watson aka Ricky aka most Black women’s chocolate delight, Mr. morris Chestnut for BET Talks, I series I Direct and consult as a Creative EP.

He was everything a brother could be, smooth down to earth, loving and adoring and most of all respectful of his wife, Pam (who was in the building).

They are indeed a beautifully powerful couple with strong values.

I was not only impressed, but inspired.

I am a real fan of all the things this man does. Cuz I can tell he is simply a beautiful soul of a Black Man and that’s all I aspire to be.. so a-a likes be a-alikin..🤷🏾‍♂️

While I am by no means the caliber of chocolate drop he is but I do aight!

My career is filled with many highlights.

This is one of them.

Today I got to meet and direct two of my favorite humans whom have provided me with so much joy, inspiration and healing through their art and energies.

are some of the most genuine and talented people God has blessed us with.

Today was inspiring just listening and witnessing how much love they have for each other and how much joy they share together.

We all deserve the power and fulfillment and challenges of that kind of love.

Keep inspiring me and our community to be ourselves to shine as God intended and love ourselves within and without.

Today was special.

Wishing them and their family and community continued success!

I met The Browns!! Err.. The Mann family today!! And I am better for it! 😊

This man’s talent and craftsmanship moves mountains..moves souls.. he is a masterclass..

I was incredibly honored and grateful to direct only a few steps of his this day and provide a space for his work and energy.

Please check out the film “Exhibiting Forgiveness” it’s a very necessary film to watch for OUR brothers, fathers and sons.

Andre stars. Titus Kaphar writes and directs. Aunjanue Ellis, John Earl Jelks and Andra Day Co-Star and all these blazing Black stars shine and create such a moving and challenging film!
