Photo Of Caitlin Clark During Iowa Celebration Causes A Stir
On Wednesday night the Iowa Hawkeyes played their first game without all-world point guard Caitlin Clark - and won.

The Hawkeyes opened their season on Wednesday night with a contest against Northern Illinois. Following a tight first quarter that saw Iowa grab a 15-14 lead, the Hawkeyes took command in the second quarter en route to a 45-34 halftime lead.

They didn't let off the gas in the second half, storming out of the gates with a 27-18 advantage in the third quarter. All they had to do was hold on in the final quarter and Iowa walked out with a 91-73 victory to open the season.
Following the game head coach Jan Jensen received a surprise celebration from her team as they popped confetti and tossed water in the locker room following her first win as head coach - taking over for the iconic Lisa Bluder.

Video of the celebration made headlines on social media, but fans noticed something unique in the videos - Caitlin Clark. While she wasn't there in the locker room in person, her likeness was.
Iowa posted a large photo of Clark in the locker room and it gave an incredible vibe to the post-game celebration as the Hawkeyes opened their season with a win.
It was a fitting celebration from the team, that sat on the bench before the game kicked off to watch a montage of the 2023-24 Iowa team that won the Big Ten and made it to another national title game.

Fans Convinced Iowa Has Found Its Caitlin Clark Replacement After Season Opener
For the first time since the 2019-2020 season, the Iowa Hawkeyes played a game without star guard Caitlin Clark as a member of the team.

On Wednesday night, Iowa tipped its season off with a 91-73 win over the Northern Illinois Huskies at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

There were many reasons to be excited in Iowa City, including the Hawkeyes' new transfer guard who could fill some of the void left following Clark's departure.
Lucy Olsen, the former Villanova Wildcats' 5-foot-10 guard, showed out in her debut with her new school. The senior, like Clark during her time with Iowa, stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points on 9-of-17 shooting, four rebounds, seven assists and a steal.
Olsen, a Pennsylvania native, proved to be one of the better players in the nation during her final season with Villanova in 2023-24. In 35 games played, she averaged 23.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists, leading the Wildcats to a WBIT championship appearance. However, similar to Clark in the NCAAW national championship, Olsen fell a game short of winning the whole thing.

While she may not have the same numbers as Clark, Iowa fans are still excited for the new season. Olsen's performance in the opening win over Northern Illinois has only heightened that optimism.
Clark finished her Iowa career as the all-time scoring leader in college basketball history, including both men's and women's. Now, she has become the face of the WNBA after being selected as the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever.

It will be tough for Olsen to live up to everything Clark did with the Hawkeyes, but the newcomer is off to a good start.

Indiana School Reveals Cool Caitlin Clark News
While it's still the offseason, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is keeping herself busy.

This November, Clark will be playing in The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, a pro-am golf event. She will also take part in a women’s leadership summit before participating in the golf competition.

Interestingly, after that, the WNBA Rookie of the Year will take the stage at Ball State University in December for a special event.
On December 2, at 7 p.m., Clark will sit down with TV legend David Letterman for an exciting conversation at the university’s Emens Auditorium. The event is part of the David Letterman Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series, which has been a staple at Ball State University since 2008.

Letterman, a Ball State graduate and a native of Indiana, will interview Clark, who made an impressive professional debut with the Fever earlier this year. Clark finished her college career as the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer and was drafted as the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
“David Letterman is our university’s most famous graduate," Ball State University President Geoffrey S. Mearns said. "He is a native Hoosier and a national icon, and Caitlin Clark has quickly become a beloved Hoosier and national star.”

“I anticipate their conversation will be very special. On behalf of Ball State, we are honored to host them.”
While Clark is preparing for her public conversation with Letterman, rumors have also been swirling about her potential involvement with the Unrivaled league, a new 3-on-3 competition starting in January 2025.
"We’ll see," Clark said in a recent interview, leaving fans curious about her future plans.

Meanwhile, more information about ticket availability for the December event will be shared soon.

Angel Reese Admits She’s 'Scared' To Date One Type of Man
While sharing her thoughts on Zendaya’s romance, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese opened up about her own dating preferences.

After the WNBA star confirmed she’s single in September 2024, fans have been eagerly speculating about her love life and who she could be dating.

Interestingly, the Sky star casually mentioned her standards when it comes to dating.

In the latest episode of her podcast “Unapologetically Angel,” Reese sat down with celebrity stylist extraordinaire and Chicago native Law Roach for a candid conversation.
The duo delved into various topics, including Zendaya’s high-profile relationship with her “Spider-Man” co-star Tom Holland.

“I love Zendaya's confidence,” Reese shared as the conversation shifted to the couple’s height difference.

“But I just don’t know if I have the confidence to date a man shorter than me,” she added, offering an honest take on her own dating preferences.
According to the 22-year-old forward, she is “scared” to date men shorter than her.

"In my world, it is uncommon. Like, as an athlete, it's kind of uncommon,” the 6-foot-3 WNBA star further explained.

However, Roach playfully teased Reese, suggesting that height might not be as important when it comes to romantic attraction.
"But you never know, you may fall in love with a short king," the celebrity stylist said, to which she responded, “My short king might be out there.

"I'm waiting for you; I'm looking for you,” Reese added as she pointed to the camera.
For what it's worth, Reese previously dated college basketball player Cam’Ron Fletcher. According to PEOPLE, the two started dating in 2023 and broke up in March 2024, which the Sky star also confirmed in an Instagram Live session.

Reese has been linked to NBA stars such as Jalen Duren and Kevin Durant. Clearly, however, all those talks were just rumors.

Caitlin Clark has a new coach. Here’s what to expect from Indiana Fever’s Stephanie White
Stephanie White couldn’t hide her enthusiasm at her introductory press conference for the Indiana Fever. Beyond her extensive ties to the organization and the region, White is stepping into a particularly exciting role as the head coach of a talented young team, led by the last two rookies of the year, Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark.
It was Clark’s historic rookie season that vaulted the Fever into the next phase of team building and prompted the franchise to seek out a coach of White’s pedigree — one who could make Indiana a championship contender. White has already been effusive in her praise of the Fever guard, suggesting that Clark could be the greatest point guard of all time and that her No. 22 (which was also White’s number as an Indiana player from 2000-2004) won’t ever be worn by another Fever player. Clark was already one of the best players in the league before White arrived in Indianapolis, but a primary role will be further developing Clark.
Here’s how she’ll try to do it:

• White’s desire to reduce Clark’s ball dominance has emerged as a theme. Although Clark was prolific as a passer and scorer, carrying both duties was a heavy weight. A 2025 goal will be to reduce that burden. That means playing Clark for fewer minutes but also experimenting with her role.

“Helping her anticipate what’s going to be coming her way, trying to move her around a little bit more on the floor so she’s not quite as easily predictable in what action’s happening,” White said.

• Looking back at White’s previous two seasons in Connecticut, much of the facilitating came from Alyssa Thomas in the frontcourt, which allowed the Sun to spring their shooters off the ball in a variety of ways. No other forward in the league can match Thomas’ playmaking, but Boston and NaLyssa Smith have enough passing ability to replicate one of Connecticut’s favorite sets.

The Sun often started possessions with Thomas at the top of the key, and a guard or wing running off of a stagger from the corner to then setting a screen for Thomas in the middle of the court. The staggered screens already put the defense in a bind to start the play, and if Clark were the backcourt player coming, that would put additional pressure on defenders to navigate the screens to stay attached. Even if the defense managed that, the result would be the ballhandler able to rumble her way through the paint. Smith seems ideally suited for that role.
That play is one of many examples of Connecticut stacking actions on top of actions. Look at this possession from opening night of 2024 when three separate screens led to a pick-and-roll for Ty Harris and Thomas. Presumably, the defense wouldn’t go under if Clark acts as the ballhandler, but with all the space cleared on that side of the floor, the screen-setter would at least have an easy roll to the basket.
• White has expressed how impressed she is by Boston’s passing in the half court. Several of the Sun’s layered sets were intended to result in a big catching the ball at the elbow, where Boston (mimicking Brionna Jones) could then direct the action from the post. Indiana has great cutters, specifically Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull, for Boston to find from that setup in the elbow. Again, the idea is Clark factoring into the play by drawing her defender beyond the 3-point line but not required to create the scoring chance.
Of course, the combination of drag screens, pin-downs, and flares could all be decoys to eventually get Clark the ball anyway, albeit with the opportunity to attack a shifted defense rather than a set one.

“We can get to the same action on the second or third side,” White said. “We can get to it after a first or second action, being able to move her around a little bit more.”
White noted that Clark needs to add strength, which would aid in all of the goals she has laid out for the star guard. Strength should help Clark’s consistency on her jumper and her durability down the stretch of games — she shot 31.3 percent on 3s in clutch situations compared to 34.4 percent overall. It could also make her a better screener if she can generate more contact, and shooters already make the deadliest screeners because defenders don’t want to leave them.

• Clark’s main area of improvement, one that White has coached to great effect in Connecticut the last two years, will be focused on defense. Clark has been a non-factor on that end, and a player that the Sun even tried to hunt. In their first-round playoff series, Connecticut regularly ran the offense through the perimeter player Clark was defending and found a series of wide-open 3-pointers on the wing when Clark was unable to close out.

During the 2024 season, five of the top 20 players in defensive win shares came from the Sun, with Marina Mabrey, who arrived midseason, just missing the cut. A White-coached team will demand more defensive accountability, even from Clark. Success will require being “a little more tough-minded team on the defensive end of the floor.”

White has proven to be among the more adaptable coaches in the WNBA during her recent tenure. After Jones was lost for the 2023 season, she pivoted to a small-ball lineup, using Thomas essentially as a point center. The next year, Connecticut went back to the double-big look but still had the flexibility to downsize when necessary.

In Indiana, White’s creativity won’t be necessary to keep the Fever afloat. Her No. 1 priority will be to maximize a deeper roster with more talent and get the most out of Clark.

Travis Kelce Raves About Meeting Caitlin Clark At Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour
Is Lucas Oil Stadium an arena or a dairy farm? We ask because there was an absolute herd of GOATs on hand for the second night of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Indianapolis at the venue Saturday night.

Besides Swift herself, boyfriend Travis Kelce, a Kansas City Chiefs franchise fave, was in attendance, as well as Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year. The two athletes yukked it up in the audience at Swift’s penultimate U.S. tour date, and Kelce dished all about it on the latest episode of New Heights, the podcast he co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce, published on Wednesday.

“Got to meet Caitlin, she’s awesome,” Travis said of the star basketball player. He said it was “cool catching up with her,” then mentioned some things the two have in common beyond being pro athletes.
For one, they’re both loud and proud products of the Midwest. Travis hails from Ohio, Clark from Iowa.

"She loves being out there in Indianapolis, says it’s a fun city and we’re both just true Midwesterners to the heart—played high school ball, college ball, pro ball, all out here in the Midwest," he said.

Another thing they share is a love of Swift.

“She’s a Swiftie through and through,” Travis said of Clark. “She was into the show for sure. She was there with her mom and a few friends. I think this was like her third or fourth show she had been to.”

And when Jason, 37, asked if Clark's "dance moves were as good as her jump shot," Travis affirmed that the WNBA star was having a good time.

He also explained that he “wanted to see Tay one more time before this thing got closed up,” referencing the tour’s looming finale. The Indianapolis dates were Swift’s final U.S. shows, with stopovers in Canada still to come before the Eras Tour wraps for good in December. He said that “the American crowds, they did not disappoint” and that the show was “absolutely rocking.” Kelce and Swift were spotted holding hands near the stadium after the show.

Swift, of course, came to see Kelce’s game with the Chiefs on Monday night. The Kansas City NFL squad remains undefeated in its regular season, and Swift remains committed to her short-shorts and boots game day ‘fits.

Travis Kelce Raves About Caitlin Clark After Meeting Her at Taylor Swift's Indianapolis Show: 'She's a Swiftie'
Travis Kelce has visited girlfriend Taylor Swift and hobnobbed with celebrities multiple times throughout her Eras Tour, but he was particularly excited about meeting another huge "Swiftie" during her Indianapolis stop over the weekend: Caitlin Clark.

During the Wednesday, Nov. 6 episode of his New Heights podcast alongside brother Jason, Travis spoke about meeting the WNBA Rookie of the Year. “Saw Caitlin Clark there, got to meet Caitlin, she’s awesome."

"She loves being out there in Indianapolis, says it’s a fun city and we’re both just true Midwesterners to the heart — played high school ball, college ball, pro ball, all out here in the midwest," Travis, 35, added. It was cool catching up with her."

And when Jason, 37, asked if Clark's "dance moves were as good as her jump shot," Travis affirmed that the WNBA star was having a good time.

“She was into the show for sure. She was there with her mom and a few friends. I think this was like her third or fourth show she had been to, she’s a Swiftie through and through,” the Chiefs tight end said.
Travis also talked about his decision to come out to Swift's second Indianapolis show, despite it falling just two days before a game. “I wanted to see Tay one more time before this thing got closed up,” he explained.

“I'll tell you what, man. The American crowds, they did not disappoint. I heard that it was a lot more rowdy this time around, knowing she was coming back to stop through America one last time before the tour was over with, and I'll tell you what, man, that thing was rocking. Absolutely rocking,” Kelce added.
With all of the U.S. stops fully wrapped up, Swift’s Eras Tour resumes on Nov. 14 for a string of dates at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Following those shows, she will end the tour with three nights at the BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, finishing up on Sunday, Dec. 8.

VIDEO: Angel Reese Dances While Showing Off Her Wild New Hairstyle That Took 3.5 Hours & 3 People To Create
Angel Reese has been experimenting with her hairstyle this offseason, and now she has seemingly found something she really loves.
After her blonde look at the 2024 CFDA Awards and red hair at the 2024 Halloween, the Chicago Sky star took to social media this week to show off her boneless knotless braids.

She even gave a little dance for fans as she turned around and showed her hair.
This is actually not the first time that Reese has rocked a new hairstyle, but it is the latest one. She is not afraid to try something different.

Angel Reese attended the 2024 Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards last month and stole the show as she walked on the red carpet in a blonde hairstyle and Emma gown.
On Halloween, she would debut red hair as she dressed as “Poison Ivy” from the DC Comics.

Angel Reese Gets Grinded On By Megan Thee Stallion
Reese has had quite the eventful offseason, attending NFL games, WNBA Finals, fashion shows, concerts, and TV shows while doing her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel.”

The Chicago Sky megastar had her most fun on Halloween when she showed off her Cheerleader Barbie look in a post posing as Gabrielle Union’s character Isis from the 2000 movie Bring It On.

She was hardly finished as she would then paint her full body green and dying her hair red to become Poison Ivy.

Angel Reese later met up with Megan Thee Stallion in Chicago for an amazing night of fun and dancing.

On Halloween Thursday night, they showed just how close of friends they are with a provocative dance that made social media go crazy.

Rachel Bush Calls Out Angel Reese For Her Comments About The Results From The 2024 U.S. Presidential Election
The WNBA has some of the best female basketball players in the world, and Angel Reese is one of them. Many of these WNBA players have a lot of influence on the media and population, and the election not going the way Reese wanted was quite upsetting to her.
Reese is one of the brightest stars on the Chicago Sky’s roster. However, she did struggle this season. It was expected, given that it was her rookie season; however, what was unexpected, at least according to Rachel Bush, was Reese’s reaction to Trump’s win in the Presidential election.

The election took place around the USA this past Tuesday, and almost everyone in the states went to their polling station to vote for either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump, both of whom would have made history by entering the White House.

Donald Trump ultimately came out victorious, earning more than the 270 electoral votes he needed to secure his spot in the White House, and now Angel Reese is firing shots at the people who voted for him.
Angel Reese’s Tweet Confuses Rachel Bush
“I’m so disappointed in America….Some of you just couldn’t selfishly put your pride aside, huh?” the WNBA star tweeted. Tons of fans responded to the tweet, but what got the most attention was the response from model Rachel Bush.
“Wtf, does this even mean lol,” the 27-year-old model said. Bush, who is also the wife of NFL Star Jordan Poyer, voted for Trump in the election, and we can only assume that Poyer did, too. However, it was still unexpected for her to respond to the basketball star, who preferred Harris.

There may be a new beef brewing between these two unexpected sports personalities. It could be an interesting one to watch in the future, and the headlines could be pretty fun!

Who is Lucy Olsen? Meet the Iowa guard leading the Hawkeyes in the post-Caitlin Clark era
The Iowa Hawkeyes will enter a transformation when its 2024-2025 season starts Wednesday.

Caitlin Clark, the generational hooper who changed the fabric of Iowa, is now in the WNBA, leaving the proverbial door wide open for someone else to walk through it.

Enter Lucy Olsen — the Pennsylvania native and senior guard who transferred to Iowa in the offseason after three seasons with the Villanova Wildcats. Olsen seemingly takes over for Clark, stepping into the spotlight to keep the Hawkeyes on the path to title contention.

Will Iowa get back to the national championship game with Lucy Olsen leading the team in a post-Caitlin Clark era? That remains to be seen. But now is a good time to familiarize yourself with the player leading the charge.

1. Lucy Olsen picked the Iowa Hawkeyes for the team's family culture
Why would Lucy Olsen pick Iowa as her next destination, knowing she would have so many expectations — fair or unfair — placed on her?

Former coach Lisa Bluder and the Hawkeyes seemed to have fostered a warm and inviting culture. From a quick phone call right after she transferred to a Zoom meeting with her parents, Iowa was all in on Lucy Olsen. That notion was only reinforced when she met the team in person.

"When we got on campus for a visit, I was like, 'Wow, this feels like family already,'" Olsen told Chad Leistikow of the Des Moines Register earlier this year. "There was something about the culture they’ve built (that) felt so like home. That’s what sold me."
2. Lucy Olsen isn't trying to be Caitlin Clark
Iowa’s Lucy Olsen (33) reacts during a game against Missouri Western Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa. (Julia Hansen/Iowa City Press-Citizen/USA TODAY NETWORK)

Stepping in behind Caitlin Clark (and her legacy) can feel daunting. But Lucy Olsen isn't trying to fill Clark's shoes.
"Caitlin Clark is Caitlin Clark. I’m not going to try to be her," Olsen said. "But they need a point guard, and it’s a perfect opportunity to try to make something happen."

To her credit, Olsen holds her own on the court, which is a huge reason why she was also heavily pursued by schools like LSU and Maryland when she entered the transfer portal. The senior guard was third in Division I women's basketball scoring last season, just behind Clark and JuJu Watkins, averaging an impressive 23.3 points per game.

3. Lucy Olsen brings her own unique game to the Iowa Hawkeyes
Lucy Olsen works very well in the midrange and has a patented stepback fadeaway jumper that should get some real shine this season. It's her go-to move, unleashing it from multiple spots within the arc. She's also a willing three-point shooter despite only shooting 30 percent from deep last year.
Also, Olsen has plenty of basketball experience that should lend well to a young Iowa team. In addition to three productive seasons at Vilanova, where she finished her career ranking ninth all-time in scoring with 1,504 points, Olsen has also played on the international stage. She's been playing for Team USA Basketball for nearly two years and won a gold medal at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League Fin .
