Though we've not published an episode for some time, we could not remain silent on this day.

We felt we'd be doing a disservice to the brave, resilient women who've been kind enough to lend their voices and stories to our podcast if we did not rise up against the oppression women continue to face (and indeed has been highlighted today in a horrific fashion).

This is not a day of politics. We literally never talk about politics and today is no different. Today we continue to stand with those (and specifically, the women of the U.S.) who have been dealt a card that few of us can even fathom.

Please do not turn a blind eye to what happened in D.C. today and what has been happening worldwide for centuries.

Please speak up. Please lend a hand. Please reach out. Please do what you can for those who you know have been and will be directly affected by the overturning of Roe vs. Wade by Sam, Clarence, Neil, Brett, and Amy.

Okay, wow! 😱 First of all, this episode is *super* explicit! Additionally, the “sexy stuff" that Bob & “JoBeth” get into in these chapters will blow your mind!
Never have we been both so incensed and simultaneously cracked up by the nitty-gritty details that they chose to share.

From Bob telling the fellas how they should touch their wives to “JoBeth” telling the ladies once more just how to be uber subservient, this episode will have you in stitches, cause you to be morally outraged, oooooor maybe a little bit of both. 🤣 Enjoy, NYM Fam!

From rattlesnakes to the "plan of salvation", chapter 5 of Jack Schaap's "Dating With A Purpose" had it all!

In this chapter, Mr. Schaap takes a closer look at what he feels teenagers and young adults should be looking for in a partner as well as what NOT to look for.

This chapter really cracked us up so if you're looking for some laughs, we recommend it! 🤣

Yes! It's been months and we're sorry for that but we could not be more excited to bring you an episode that has been months in the making and carries with it a message of healing and help.

Stuart was inspired by a few of his friends to compile conversations that his peers would like to have with their parents but are held back by the legalism of the Independent Fundamental Baptist Movement.

These conversations ranged from catching parents up on what's going on in their adult (and in many cases estranged) children's lives to expressing frustration for their parent's refusal to accept them for who they are and simply love them as their children.

Stuart brought on his parents for this episode in order for them to help us all process the angst that we've encountered when trying to deal with our IFB parents. Max & Katy Hardy were steeped in the IFB and are fully aware (as parents) just how difficult it can be for the children of IFB parents when those children attempt to speak with their parents on any and all matters.

Whether you're simply curious about the IFB or possibly looking for catharsis in the midst of a struggle with family for religious reasons, we hope that you enjoy and are helped by this episode.

We are smack dab in the midst of the holiday season and for many of us, that means we'll be up against it with our immediate family.

When you leave a cult and your family doesn't come along with you, a lot of damage tends to occur. Chapter 4 of Jack Schaap's "Dating With A Purpose" is entitled "Principles Of Dress" and it comes as no surprise to Stuart that the chapter is devoted almost *entirely* to calling out women for what they're wearing & how they are presenting themselves.

As we covered this chapter in a very brief version of StoryTime With Stu, we re-discovered that Schapp had put forth impossible "standards" (they were his own, legalistic preferences really) for women.
At one point he stated that dresses which are too lengthy are immodest as well as skirts that were too short.
He also said that both "too much" (by his standards, which he could create "on the fly" for any given situation) makeup and not enough makeup would not be "up to par" for his standards.

Stuart Hardy got really fired up in this episode and here a couple of the items he read that put him on edge.

First, the section of the book addressed to "women only" does its best to lead wives to believe that even when their husband is wrong - he is somehow still right. Additionally, they are quite literally told to "shut up and let him lead". UN.REAL.

Next, IFB leadership (Bob Ho**er included) tends to create problems in the lives of it's "commoners" and then call these poor folks out for said problems (that the leaders themselves created - NOT the "commoners").
In this chapter, Bob specifically rails on the men for being concerned with their finances. Please keep in mind that the people (men, specifically) that he is seeking to berate have spent their own money to buy this book.
In many cases, these men also bought overpriced music CDs & tapes that Bob's daughters had produced at Faith Music Missions in Evansville, Indiana.
Most likely, these men also put money in the plate as it was passed after Bob finished screaming from the pulpit ("love offerings" are a very common guilt tactic and "bonus" that guest speakers at churches receive in addition to their fee for speaking).
Lastly, many men who have purchased this book have also paid costly fees to attend out-of-town conferences that Bob has spoken at.

AND YET (after *all* of this money that these poor fellas have sent Bob's way) he still seeks to belittle them for being up late at night wondering how they will put food on the table for their family's next meal.
