The Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters Association is offering a $1000 scholarship in 2026 to a student pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism. The student must be enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at a college or university in Virginia or West Virginia at the time of the application deadline.
The VAPB Scholarship Committee will select one student from among all qualified applications received by the deadline – Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026.
Students are asked to send one email with their application, resume and essay attached to Jay Webb, Chairman of the VAPB Scholarship Committee, at [email protected]. (Note: The application must be received by 11:59p.m., Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, or earlier to be considered).
The award is contingent upon the recipient being able to attend the Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters Awards Luncheon as our guest. This year’s event begins at 12 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 28, 2026, at Hotel Madison in Harrisonburg, Va.
The VAPB is comprised of AP member television and radio stations throughout Virginia and West Virginia.
