Bred in Northeast Asia as a sled dog, the Siberian Husky is known for its amazing endurance and willingness to work. Its agreeable and outgoing temperament makes it a great all-around dog, suitable for anything from sledding to therapy work. Because it originated in cold climates, Siberians have a thicker coat than most other breeds of dog, made up of a dense cashmere-like undercoat and a longer, coarse top coat.

At just four years old, Gabi began leaving peanuts and bits of food outside each day. What started as a child’s simple kindness soon grew into something extraordinary.
The crows began bringing her “gifts” in return — beads, bottle caps, shiny trinkets. One day, after her mother lost a camera lens cap in the yard, a crow even returned it, placing it neatly for the family to find.
For Gabi, these weren’t just objects. They were proof of something deeper: that kindness is seen, remembered, and repaid in ways we don’t always expect.

Built in the 1800s by John Walker for his family of 13, the Walker Cabin became a symbol of self-sufficiency and Appalachian endurance. While many families left when the national park was created, the Walker sisters chose to stay, living off the land just as their ancestors had.
Even into the 1960s, the cabin remained nearly unchanged, its hand-hewn logs and stone chimney standing in quiet defiance against time. The last sisters lived there until 1966, when their passing closed a chapter of Appalachian history.
Today, the cabin remains preserved — its original furnishings and tools whispering stories of hard work, faith, and a deep connection to the land. For visitors, it is more than a historic site. It is a bridge between past and present, reminding us that survival once meant perseverance, not comfort, and that identity lives on in what we choose to preserve.

Four years ago, we met a dog who desperately needed a home. His owner, a postal worker, loved him but could no longer care for him — long hours meant he spent up to eleven hours a day in a crate. If we hadn’t taken him, he was going to a shelter.
We expected hesitation, maybe sadness. Instead, he ran to us with joy, hopped into our car without fear, and curled up on the couch that very night as if to say: I’m finally home.
There were no cries for his old life, no restless nights — only trust, only love. Over the years, he’s become more than a pet. He’s family. He reminds us daily that adoption isn’t just about saving a life — sometimes it’s about completing your own.

At just 3.5 months old, Mackenzie was diagnosed with retinoblastoma — a rare and terrifying eye cancer. She’s been through seven rounds of chemo, countless procedures, and today she is nearly one year cancer-free.
This morning, as we waited for her surgery, something beautiful happened. We met Akira — a two-year-old fighting the very same cancer.
The moment the girls saw each other, all fear disappeared. They held hands, hugged, laughed, and played as if they had been best friends forever. In the middle of a hospital filled with beeping machines and worry, two children created their own safe world — one filled with innocence and joy.
As Akira’s grandmother said, “This is pure innocence.”
Watching them reminded me that even in the hardest battles, love and connection are stronger than fear. Two little girls, both touched by trauma, reminding us what courage and hope truly look like.

Few moments in nature are as powerful as the birth of new life. In a recently shared video, a herd of elephants surrounded a mother as she went into labor — forming a protective circle while she gave birth to her calf.
At first, the newborn lay still, wrapped in its sac, fragile and uncertain. Then, with a small lift of its head, life began — and the herd erupted in celebration. Trumpets filled the air, trunks reached out in tender welcome, and the baby was embraced not just by its mother, but by an entire community.
It was more than a birth. It was a reminder of how deeply elephants care for one another, how they grieve, protect, and celebrate as families. Yet it was also bittersweet — because these magnificent creatures still face the threat of extinction from poaching and habitat loss.
This single calf’s first breath carries with it a larger story: one of survival, community, and hope for a species on the edge.

What started as a simple family lunch at Chick-fil-A turned into something unforgettable.
When Jonathan Full saw 11 soldiers walk in, he stood up with a plan: buy one meal to show respect. But as he watched, his heart told him — how could he stop at just one?
“I didn’t care if 200 more showed up,” he later said. “I was still going to buy the meal.”
That day, every soldier ate for free, thanks to a father who wanted his son to see what honoring service truly looks like. But behind the gesture was something even deeper.
Jonathan did it in memory of his late brother, Joshua — a veteran who fought bravely but lost his battle with severe PTSD. With each meal he paid for, Jonathan asked the soldiers to look after one another, to never ignore the hidden wounds so many carry.
It wasn’t about food. It was about remembrance, gratitude, and turning grief into purpose.

A tiny miracle arrived in 2020 — a four-month-old albino elephant calf named Khanyisa. She had been found with a poacher’s snare wrapped around her head, cutting so deeply it nearly blinded her. Alone, bleeding, and weak, no one was sure if she would survive her first night.
But Khanyisa fought back. With the tireless care of her rescuers, her wounds were stitched, her pain soothed, and her strength slowly returned. By her side was an unlikely companion — a gentle sheep named Lammie, who never left her alone.
When she was ready, Khanyisa was introduced to the Jabulani herd, elephants who had also been rescued from loss and hardship. One by one, they welcomed her, until Lundi, a wise matriarch, stepped forward to claim her as family. The orphaned calf was no longer motherless — she had found a home.
Today, Khanyisa thrives. Her rare white coat gleams under the African sun, her playful spirit restored. What began in suffering has become a symbol of resilience, love, and hope for elephants everywhere.
👉 Her journey is more than survival — it is a call to protect what is precious before it’s too late. Full story in the comments.

Sasha’s fight against cancer is a study in courage and resilience.
The medicine that heals her also brings pain, each swallow and breath a quiet triumph.
Cabo therapy has kept her scans clear, but its intensity demands careful pauses, replaced by high-dose Ifosfamide to give her body a reprieve.
Every small victory is celebrated: a sip of water, a fleeting smile, a soft exhale of comfort.
Her laughter and spark remind everyone that pain does not define her spirit.
The family, the care team, and the community surround her with love, prayers, and hope, turning every moment of struggle into a lesson in bravery.
Step by step, breath by breath, Sasha teaches what it means to fight, to endure, and to find courage in the smallest of bodies.

This is a post no parent ever wishes to write.
Cylus has endured more than most adults, yet he is only a child. After days of battling kidney stone pain, Sunday night brought something far worse. His face suddenly went paralyzed, and panic sent us rushing to the hospital.
Scans revealed a new mass at the base of his skull, pressing against his facial nerve. The relief that it wasn’t in his brain was crushed by the reality of what it was. Tomorrow, he begins MIBG therapy—four days of liquid radiation, four days of isolation.
Cylus has fought through cancer, fractures, infections, and unimaginable pain. And still, he refuses to give up. We are clinging to prayer, begging for a miracle, and holding on to hope because that is all we have left.
Please keep Cylus in your prayers. Believe with us, even when it feels impossible.

Five-year-old Bryson, or “Goosey” as his family calls him, is nearing the end of his fight.
Neuroblastoma has spread deep into his little body, leaving pain that never truly fades.
Morphine helps, but it cannot take away the weight of this cruel disease.
Even so, Bryson’s spirit still shines.
He lights up when talking about his favorite things—quesadillas, trains, silly cartoons, and teasing his brother and cousin just to see them laugh.
In those moments, he isn’t just a patient—he’s a little boy, full of love and mischief, holding on to pieces of childhood.
Around him, his family pours out every ounce of love they have.
They hold him close, comfort him through the pain, and remind him that he is cherished beyond measure.
Every smile, every glance, every memory has become a priceless treasure in these final days.
This is childhood cancer—relentless, unfair, and devastating.
Bryson deserves more than 4% of funding, and so do all the children fighting battles like his.
