Going to be a fun one this morning

Today is the biggest PDC hearing in a while. It is the Deltona Rezoning and Holder Industrial Park comprehensive plan amendment that will allow a potential data center at the Holder Industrial Park. Back in May, the county commissioners voted on a 12 month moratorium on data centers. This includes

Deltona has asked for a continuance for the BOCC hearing for the data center. This will still come to the PDC tomorrow for their hearing, but they would like the BOCC hearing to come in November.

It clearly appears that they are trying to delay the final BOCC vote until after the elections. Wild times in Citrus County.

I will research how this works legally, but I wonder if the county can force them to come before November.. Someone on the BOCC may be able to make it an agenda item and then force a vote. That vote will be interesting.

So down the rabbit hole of research I go :D

Interesting agenda item next week. 5:05pm OA-2026-00001. This is a land development code amendment.

The interesting thing here is that the PDC voted on this back in May. Since then, the county COMPLETELY changed the amendment.

They removed an entire Section (Heavy Industrial) that would have created a requirement for Asphalt Plants to get a PUD approval before they can be built. It also required a PUD approval for cement plants, such as the one that was built by Canterbury. They are now conditional use, which only requires the PDC approval and NOT BOCC.

The idea was to require these projects to come to the PDC/BOCC for public hearings and approval instead of being a by right development that a developer could build simply by owning industrial property or asking for a re-zoning to industrial, as is the case for the Asphalt Plant. It also requires them to submit detailed plans and all of that for the project.

These are SIGNIFICANT changes to the amendment that the PDC voted on in May. How can it now come before the BOCC? They are not voting on the same thing that the PDC voted to approve with conditions.

Someone on staff removed that section and made those changes after the PDC hearing and is not going back through the proper procedure to bring it back to PDC for another review.

A picture is worth 1000 words (or 1700 in this case)

Today, the picture drops. What picture you ask? One that I was sent almost a year ago. You may remember me teasing something that was sent to me, but I said I was not going to release it. I did not plan to release this picture. Why? Because the hearing

Big post coming tomorrow morning. This will be sure to ruffle some feathers.. Stay tuned :D

Got a response from the Governor's office regarding the petition. They suggest going to Ethics or the State's Attorney office. So can start work on that.

No article today, but here are the poll results that I ran this week. Keep in mind this is just for fun. It is NOT scientific by any means. This would have a 85% confidence level with 5% margin of error.

That being said, it is kind of shocking that Herndon is taking 68.77% of the vote here... even on a page where the majority do not like incumbents.

I expected to see a close race between Finegan and Worthington, so those results track, but for someone to get more than 2/3rds in a 3 person race was not something I expected.

If this tracks, this may be the biggest upset in County history. Bays may have far more work to do than she thought... but Herndon can't just coast from here. She has work to do as well, since I think it is closer than this poll suggests.

The next 2 months will be interesting.

Board votes 5-0 to drop their counterclaim (eviction) if Right Rudder drops their lawsuit against the county. They will also require Mr Purvis to supply paperwork showing that he is 85% owner and has 100% operational control of the airport.

No vote yet on Right Rudder (later they vote 5-0 to drop the counter suit), but Commissioner Bays asks a question that raised my eyebrows.

"If we terminated the Right Rudder contract, how can we just re-instate the contract that no longer exists since it was terminated?"

Is that not the same thing that they JUST did for Betz Farm when they voted to terminate the contract and then voted to rescind the termination?
