🦊💛 IT’S WISHLIST WEDNESDAY – OUR WILDLIFE NEEDS YOU! 💛🦝🐿️

Every day, our team at What The Fox 🦊 Wildlife Rescue works tirelessly to care for sick, injured, and orphaned native Florida wildlife. From tiny baby squirrels 🐿️ needing bottle feedings every few hours to injured raccoons, opossums, and rabbits, requiring medical care, the need never stops.

As a 100% donation-funded nonprofit, every bottle of formula, every roll of paper towels, every bag of food, and every cleaning supply comes directly from the generosity of people like you.

This week’s wishlist items may seem simple, but they are essential to the daily care of the animals in our rehabilitation program:
🍼 Baby formula
🧻 Paper towels
🗑️ Trash bags
🧼 Disinfecting wipes and cleaning supplies
🥜 Wildlife-safe foods and enrichment items
🧤 Gloves and intake supplies

Whether you can donate an item, make a monetary contribution, or simply share this post, you are helping give these animals a second chance at life.

🦝 Every raccoon released.
🐿️ Every squirrel returned to the trees.
🦉 Every bird that takes flight again.
❤️ It all happens because of YOU.

Please consider helping us clear a few items from our wishlist this week. Together, we can continue being there when Florida’s wildlife needs us most.

Spot a wild turkey?

Report your wild turkey sightings from now to Aug. 31 to help with our summer brood survey. Were interested in hens with and without poults (young wild turkeys) and male birds (jakes and gobblers) from developed and rural areas. Your reports provide our biologists with insights into annual nesting success, brood survival, and the distribution and abundance of wild turkeys. 🦃

Report your sightings at the Turkey Survey link in our comments.

🌀🦊 HURRICANE SEASON IS HERE — LET’S PROTECT FLORIDA’S WILDLIFE TOGETHER! 🦝🐿️

As hurricane season begins, our thoughts often turn to preparing our homes and families—but Florida’s wildlife face the storm too.

Every year, hurricanes 🌀 and tropical storms leave behind injured, orphaned, and displaced wildlife in need of help. Squirrels 🐿️ are blown from nests, baby birds 🐦 are separated from their parents, foxes 🦊 and raccoons 🦝 or lose den sites, and countless other wildlife struggle to survive the aftermath.

Here are a few important reminders:

✅ Before the storm
• Secure outdoor furniture and debris that could destroy nests or shelters.
• Do not attempt to relocate wildlife before a storm.
• Save the contact information for What the Fox Wildlife Rescue or your other local wildlife rehabilitator. You can find the list for Florida herehttps://myfwc.com/media/i0efjuil/licensedwildliferehabilitatorsbyregion.pdf

✅ During the storm
• Stay safe indoors.
• Wildlife may seek shelter in unusual places—garages, sheds, porches, and outbuildings.
• Give them space and allow them to ride out the storm whenever possible.

✅ After the storm
• Be on the lookout for injured, orphaned, or displaced wildlife.
• If you find an animal that appears to need help, keep pets and people away.
• If safe to do so, place the animal in a secure, ventilated container lined with a soft towel.
• Do not offer food or water.
• Contact What the Fox Wildlife Rescue or another licensed wildlife rehabilitator for guidance.
