I saw these Misprinted shirts in Cracker Barrel. I couldn't understand why they used the wrong bird until I Googled Yellowhammer and both birds came up, they picked the yellow one. I guess they don't teach Alabama History in Tennessee, so I thought I'd help clear things up for them.
One of my favorite classes at West Elementary was Alabama history taught by Mrs. Bates... Where WE learned what our State Bird, the YELLOWHAMMER, looked like.
I think we live in the BEST STATE in the country. We forget how special it is until we visit one of those states where people talk funny and they don't have sweet tea or grits.
I've been secretly working on 2 research projects that are Alabama History related. One for 6 years and the other one for over a year now. I'll be sharing them pretty soon. They're novel enough One Might actually make the news.
Btw... I actually found a copy of my old Alabama History textbook on Ebay. It's on the way
