A winter storm warning is in effect from 1 AM Monday through 1 PM Monday, Jan 3, 2022.

Moderate to significant snowfall is expected with the incoming storm.

Sgt. Steve Lewis says the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting in the 11900 block of Freemans Ford Road around 5:34 p.m Thursday evening.

Upon arrival, "Deputies located a deceased male with upper body trauma lying in the front yard of the residence" according to Sgt. Lewis.
The victim was identified as 24 year-old Charles W. โ€œTripโ€ Bopp III. Charles was the son of Charles W. Bopp Jr, a retired major at Fauquier County Sheriff's Office and previously employed with the ATF and United States Secret Service.
The victim was located in the yard at his residence, the incident appears to be isolated, according to Sgt. Lewis.

The Fauquier Sheriffโ€™s Office is working with the Department of Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Detectives are attempting to identify any suspects involved.

April 9, 2021

On April 8, 2021, at 4:40 p.m., Deputy Schienschang of the Orange County Sheriff's Office observed a red Chevrolet Camaro traveling at more than 90 miles-per-hour in a posted 55 mph zone on Constitution Highway. The deputy attempted a traffic stop but the sports car accelerated away at speeds of more than 100 miles-per-hour. The driver eventually ended up on Everona Road and came to a stop at a residence.

Tyrone Lowe, age 48, of Unionville, VA was arrested and charged with felony DUI, the 3rd offense within 5 years. Lowe was taken into custody and held at Central Virginia Regional Jail.

An Orange County woman was killed when her vehicle was T-boned by an off-duty Culpeper County Deputy on Tuesday evening March 30.
According to Virginia State Police, a Nissan Altima was attempting to cross State Route 3 at the intersection of Carrico MIlls Road and Germanna Highway around 6:00 p.m. The Nissan was stopped at a stop sign and then proceeded to cross Route 3, according to a news release. A black in color unmarked Chevrolet Tahoe registered to the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office was unable to avoid the Nissan. The driver of the Nissan, 65 year-old Helen M. Quarles of Locust Grove was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy had only minor injuries.
Virginia State Police Culpeper Division Crash Reconstruction Team is handling the ongoing investigation as per request of Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins.
