VDOT Culpeper District is asking for your help!

The Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking feedback on several transportation studies assessing potential improvements to transportation corridors in those localities.

The studies will focus on improving safety, mitigating congestion, accessibility and connectivity for bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit users, and transportation demand management needs.

VDOT invites residents and travelers to learn more about the studies and take online surveys which are available through the links below. Community input received through these surveys will help the study team identify existing issues along the study corridors and develop recommendations for potential improvements that will be evaluated and presented during the next phase of the studies, which will include another opportunity for public comment.

The four study corridors are:

U.S. 29 corridor in Culpeper County, from the Madison County line to the U.S. 29 Business interchange.

Ira Hoffman Lane in the Town of Culpeper and Culpeper County, from Route 229 (Rixeyville Road) to U.S. 15 Business (Brandy Road).

Take the survey: https://publicinput.com/cu-25-04

The surveys, which have a translation tool for other languages, are available at the links above. Comments can also be sent to Chuck Proctor, Culpeper District Planner, email [email protected] or by postal mail to Chuck Proctor, Virginia Department of Transportation, 1601 Orange Road, Culpeper, VA 22701. Survey responses will be collected through June 16.

These studies are being conducted as part of the Project Pipeline program, which was created by the Commonwealth Transportation Board. Project Pipeline is a performance-based planning program to identify cost-effective solutions to multimodal transportation needs in Virginia. Project Pipeline is led by Virginia’s Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment, in collaboration with VDOT and the Department of Rail and Public Transportation.

These studies are expected to be completed in summer 2026. The study will recommend projects, solutions, and investment strategies that may be considered for statewide funding programs such as SMART SCALE, Revenue Sharing, and the Virginia Highway Safety Improvement Program, as well as regional and local funding sources. No construction dates have been set for any improvements.
