Amidst a promising, trail-blazing career as a director and producer in the entertainment industry, K. Rocco Shields made the decision to turn her knowledge of storytelling and filmmaking processes toward making unique and engaging content for e-Learning. Shields worked with one of the first OPM’s to develop videos that would convert college lectures into engaging, informative stories.⁣

The Assistant Editor works with our post-production team to help maintain an output of hundreds of specialized videos per month. Assistant Editors are responsible for project organization and preparing projects in the Adobe suite for our editors. This includes media organization and processing, text element generation, project file preparation, and providing support materials for editors.
Responsibilities:

Downloading and ingesting footage from all over the world
Logging footage in accordance with our naming conventions
Generating text assets and graphics in Photoshop and After Effects
Preparing Premiere project files for editors
Troubleshooting hardware and software issues
Communicate with the Media Manager in person and via project tracking documents

Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, and have experience with organizing narrative and documentary style film/tv projects.

Summary/Objective

The Post Coordinator is the main point of contact for Genius Produced Post Department internal communication and post related workflows. Responsible for tracking project milestones, source-material, cloud based media management, and managing assignments among assistant editors, freelance DITs, and post production assistants.

Responsibilities:

- Helps build and maintain delivery spreadsheets.

Frame IO uploads and version stacking

File Version File Tracking

Upload to video hosting services

- Deployment of proxies via dropbox and provisioning of footage to remote editors.

- Ensuring remote AE’s are properly maintaining sequences and projects within Creative Cloud Structure.

- Overseeing remote AEs in the submission of elements to sound, VFX, and color to remote artists.

- Quality check final exports across multiple channels and brands

- Tracks post production schedules in ASANA :

flagging timeline concerns to post super super and ensuring post team is properly reporting daily tasks.

- Preparing presenting “dailies” to directors and creative producers as needed

- Maintenance of video files and into an organized, streamlined database for the ease of the post production team

- Implementation of scheduling, organizational, and other post-production related tactics in accordance with the Post Production's guidelines for structure.

- Overseeing the proper intake, organization and deployment of footage through the Shared Area Network.

- Overseeing production DIT’s and camera assistants to ensure the proper delivery of production media to post.

- Overseeing proper backup and logging procedures.

Supporting Post Production Supervisor

- Administrative tasks, and tracking details across Post Production

- Overseeing department weekly timecard submissions to Post Super & correcting timecard coding

- Flagging technical issues to post supervisor

Collectively, we’re happy to put 2020 behind us and look to a more hopeful 2021. With the promise of effective vaccines, those in Higher Ed may feel we’ve dodged a bullet and thankfully can now return to campus-based classes. But counterintuitively, it is time to redouble our efforts in online education, and forward-thinking schools and programs will be doing just that. We will see a flurry of activity and investment in online education in 2021 and beyond.
